Fed BCBS: How long does it take to approve?

What has been your experience about how long you had to wait for insurance approval? I have Fed BCBS.

    I have been waiting a week and a half so far and haven't heard a thing. My insurance coordinator tells me that it varies by state. The state I live in still thinks of VSG as "experimental" and although my doctor has been working with BCBS of Wyoming to have them approve surgeries on a "case by case" basis I have been warned that I will probably be denied first and we will have to wait for them to make their decision on whether they will start approving VSG surgeries at all. I knew when my paperwork was sent in that it would most likely be denied but have decided to wait and pray that they will start approving them soon.

    What has been your experience about how long you had to wait for insurance approval? I have Fed BCBS.
