Finally Banded!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Just wanted to let you all know that I was finally banded on Monday, June 5th. Today is my first day home and all in all I am feeling pretty good. Tummy is still hurting a bit of course but I'm amazed by how manageable the pain is. Have my mom here with me to help (she is a registered nurse so I am spoiled!) and have graduated from Water and juice to broth which tastes soooo yummy.

My tummy is all gurgly which I think is a good sign. And I know it's temporary but it is really nice to not care if others are eating around me. I have no desire to eat "real" food. Again, I'm sure I'll face that demon soon enough but I'm enjoying it so far.

I do have one question... what do you guys do to "get things moving" so to speak? I really feel bloated like I need to "go" but have not been able to so far. This early in the game I wasn't sure if I should try something over the counter or not.

Congratulatios on getting your band. You could try some prune juice. I hear that works.

Glad to hear that your recovery is going well! I was on liquids for several days and had to do a bowel prep before surgery so Constipation wasn't an issue for me. It could just be gas pressure. If that's the case, a lot of people recommend Gas-x.

Welcome to Bandland! :P

Glad your doing well. I've heard everyone talk about the gax and the gas x strips, I would try them. Keep up the good work and rest and take it easy. Let us know how your doing.

Keeping you in my thoughts,

Sherri

I tried milk of magnesia for the Constipation but that's at the bottom of the list of things I ever want to ingest again! I hated it so tried prune juice, and that worked fine for me. I have one of those little individual cans a couple of times a week and everything's good.

Hope your recovery continues to go smoothly...just be gentle with yourself and give yourself time to heal and rest.

Emily

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
