May 3, 200620 yr Seminole, There's a tube that runs from the port to the band. When they inject saline into the port it runs through the tube and into the band to fill up the band. I have my fills done under xray so I drink barium and they adjust the fill amount until they see the barium coming through the band in the right amount.
May 3, 200620 yr Author Ok Kim, But what stops the fluid from running out of the tube? There is not a cap on it, it is punctured when the needle goes in?
May 3, 200620 yr The top of the port where they inject the saline is made similar to the top of a vial of insulin (or any kind of injectable medication). Once the needle is removed, the hole seals itself.
