freaking out

I fractured my ankle on Friday and have been in bed since Saturday. I have gained 5 pounds once I finally could balance myself on the scale. I guess my question is the doctor put me on steroids because

My foot is The size of a football. Once I'm off the steroids will the extra weight come off ?

Steroids are wicked! Yes, the steroids will make you seriously blow up with excess water. In fact in big enough doses for long periods of time, people even get "moon face" from all the water weight.

Drink a lot of water and stay away from sodium. The weight will definitely come back off as soon the steroids are out of your system.

I hope you feel better soon.

make sure you keep moving- even though you can't use your lower body doesnt mean you can't use your upper body. Do punches for cardio and hand weights to help keep you active.
