Nervous about surgery in TJ

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

:nervous I am a 40 year old man and am scheduled to get banded with Dr. Kuri on 4-4-06. I hear nothing but good things about the experiance. I live and work in the Los Angeles area and the general LA feeling about TJ is grim. I could use some stories about your experiences and what I might expect.:phanvan I'm hoping for some enlightenment.

My wife will be there with me as well, and she's not really looking forward to sitting in a hospital room for 2.5 days. How far is the hospital from anything where she can "safely" kill some time?

Thanks,

Harpseal Al

Hello. I was banded in TJ in February... and while it was not the US it was really not bad. I was banded by Dr. Huacuz. The surgical center was quite clean... the hotel they put my husband up in, was Really quite nice. The day after the surgery... my husband and I went shopping on Revolution Blvd. It was MUCH better than I would have thought... I have heard Very good things about Dr. Kuri... if you are looking for a closer fill Dr. than having to return to TJ.. you should check out the Fill Centers USA web site. Dr. Powell is in Cardiff, CA which is in the Carlsbad area. He will fill patients banded in Mexico... and his office is great, his staff is wonderful and he himself is the best!!!! I have been really happy with all of my choices, Dr. Huacuz, Dr. Powell and Fill Centers USA!!!!! Let me know if you have any other concerns. Oh Yeah... also have your wife brings lots of reading material. The full day in the hospital can be quite boring... Our hospital room only received one channel of English speaking Television.... i have never seen so many episodes of COPS in my life!!!! Lucky for me I had plenty of reading material.. but it was a little boring for my husband. Good luck to you!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
