Leaking Port!!

Hi

So after a 41/2 years wait, I finally had my band done over a yr ago (Dr Nottle) and for about a year it hasnt been working.

Have done all his tests for them to realise it is Leaking not by puncture but port fault (of course i have to get the dodgy one)

So i go every 2 weeks have a fill of over 2mls each fill. Every fll it is removed and in 2 weeks i can loose anywhere from 2 mls most has been 5 mls in 3 weeks.

So for past 6mths i have sat patiently waiting to have it fixed. 1stly band has a fault nothing i did so i am getting really peeved off im still waiitng.

Has anyone else had same happen? How long did they wait etc, my weight is going up and if it doensnt happen soon i will be back at my start weight :o(.........

It just isnt fair...

Surely if the port is faulty then it should be replaced. Why such a long wait?

My good friend had this happen, the band company offered to replace her band at no charge, but her Dr. Would not operate for no charge. They were still arguing last I heard. Soooo wrong! She had lost a LOT of wt too. :(:(

That's insane. If I were your friend then I would raise a big fuss. Why wouldn't the surgeon's fee be included in the do-over just like the hospital fee, anesthesia fee or any othe fee associated with it? You would think that the Lap band company would not want to make a surgeon mad who they have specially trained to implant their product. I hope her surgeon goes to bat for her and the original poster.

NOOOOO, reread! The band company is the good guy w my friend, they WILL replace for no charge. The Dr is BAD, he wont do surgery for no charge! Bad man. Not my Dr! :)

OMG ! So sorry! What a predicament. I hope everything turms out ok for her.

I don't understand why you've been waiting 6 months to have the port replaced, let alone going in every 2 weeks for fills when it's all leaking out anyway. That should be fixed immediately, and if your doctor isn't willing to then it's time to find a new surgeon.
