Port

I am on day 21 after my surgery. I still have tenderness where the port is placed. I am wondering if this is normal and how would you know if your port shifts (flips)?

My port site was tender to touch for about 6 weeks, It is even with the surface of my skin, about the size of a quarter,

and if it moved, I could easily tell. I you have some reason to think it has moved, you could see your doctor's office

or wait until your next fill. The way ports are attached today, it's rare for them to shift position. I hope your's is OK.

I am hoping it is just some of the swelling gone down and it feels different. Plus I sleep on my left side that might not be good either. Who know I don't.... Will check with doctor in morning thanks.

I get my first fill on 3-8-12

Its right there under the skin I think it will always be a little tender to touch. I know it is tender when they look for it to give me my fill.

Good Luck!!!!!!

I couldn't feel my port after surgery but I had a gigantic bruise in the area since my pre op nurse thought it would be a good idea to give me my Lovenox in my lower abdomen...

Anyhoo, 72 pounds later I can easily feel my port under the skin. When I touch it I feel pressure, not necessarily pain or tenderness. Since you're only 3 weeks out from surgery, your port site is still healing, so I wouldn't worry too much.
