There is no need to be nervous. When I met with my surgeon for the first time, he was the first medical professional that understood my frustration with my weight and wasn't judgmental. He reviewed my medical history with me and then asked if I had decided on a particular WLS. He agreed that the band was the best choice for me.

If you have a list of questions, write them down so you don't forget to ask something.

Good luck!

Nothing to be nervous about. Get excited. Life is going to change! :) When I had my first consult with a surgeon (who did not end up doing my surgery) he explained what he'd be doing, his background, etc. I'm so happy with my current surgeon & this band of mine. 40 lbs down & I've only had REAL restriction since this past thursday. This thing really works!

Thanks so much yall! My appt is at 10:30 this morning and I think that Dulci; nailed it. My nervousness and anxiety is coming from being treated very badly about my weight in the past from other medical professionals :( So I automatically associate "dr. appt" with.. Shame and embarasssment.

I went!! and...It went really well. My insurance requires 6 months of nutrition classes so I have my first one tomorrow. It went like this. I go in, hand in my paperwork..Fill out a form agreeing to a barium swallow. Get called back, get measured and weighed. blood pressure taken..Take the barium test which requires you to drink a few tablespoons of chalky liquid in front of a xray machine then..wa la! Meet dr. kim. He agreed with me on lap band set my nutrition appts and all done! Completely painless!!
