I know this is a rare complication/side effect but has anyone ever been told they are allergic to the band? and what did you experience? My husband had the lap band put in June then for 1 week post op nothing stayed down even saliva. They did a revision and loosened the band. Still vomiting, then they removed the band and just said my husbands stomach was swollen. Now at his drs visit friday he mentioned a possible allergy to the band. I want him to be tested by an allergist to see if he is allergic to silicone or titanium.

I think you will find it very difficult to find concrete evidence of anyone being allergic to the band. I would say it is more likely that the surgeon did something wrong - possibly positioned the band incorrectly or put fluid in at the time of surgery which often causes problems.Whatever I hope it gets sorted out soon and that your husband is soon o the road to recovery.
