Hi everyone !

I am new to the board and just basically want to know how hard it is to get insurance to cover the lapband ? I was put on a medicne about a year ago which put 75 pounds on me . However now I can't get the weight to come off . I can barley walk my feel swelll I am 5'9 255 . Any info would be great ! thanks

Call your insurance company and ask them. Every company has different criteria. Or you could call the lap band doctor in your area and tell them what insurance you have and they can probably tell you.

I got mine approved, I'm 5'9 also, but I am 230. But I also have Diabetes, high blood pressure and cholestrol, GERD, gastroparesis, and problems sleeping. It might be easier for you now that the FDA has approved the lapband for people with 30-35 BMI's. Good luck!
