Weight Gain with a Fill

Good morning everyone,

I am VERY upset at myself, I had a fill on February 28, 2011 I believe I am at 5cc in a 10cc band. This morning I weighed myself and gained 3 pounds!!! YES 3 pounds how is that possible. I am so MAD at myself, can this really happen?

It really isn't possible. You would have to eat 3200 MORE calories than you use just to gain one pound. I doubt with the band, unless you are eating A LOT of slider foods that you could do this. Every now and then my scale will show a 1 - 2 pound increase. I ignore it because I know that I only eat 1400 calories a day and I burn 3800 a day between my lifestyle (seated at a desk) and my exercise. It could be Water retention, maybe you haven't had a bowel movement in a few days, the adjustment maybe could have caused the issue, I'm not sure, but I bet in a couple of days that 3 pounds will be gone. Don't beat yourself up over it because it most likely isn't something you are doing wrong. The scale got so it drove me crazy... I was obsessed. Now I weigh 1 time a week! Good luck to you!

TKW is correct. Your stomach swells after a fill. Like she said you may need to move your bowels. I just got a fill 2 weeks ago and I seem to be losing a lot slower than before. I have thrown up a couple of times from eating too fast and not chewing enough times. So my scale has been up and down.

Thank you for your comments...I also had my fill on February 28, 2011 and was VERY disappointed with this weight gain, I'm hoping it only has to do with a bowel movement, what can I drink to help with my bowel. Does it really take 2 weeks for the fill to kick in?
