Banded two days ago in Perth :)

I got banded two days ago by Dr Stephen Watson in Perth. Surgery went great (they found a hernia so fixed that while he as at it). I have minimal pain from the actual surgery (woohoo!) but horrid shoulder pain in my left shoulder. I am using heatpacks and taking the pain meds when I can.

Did anyone else get really bad shoulder pain straight after surgery? if so, how long did it last?

On the upside, I am not even hungry which is such a foreign feeling for me :) - loving it! Now if only this shoulder pain would rack off I would be the happiest camper ever

The shoulder pain the referred pain from the gas the use to blow up the abdomen during surgery. This happens during laparoscopy procedures (I've had two). Take panadol every four hours (religiously in the first few days) and it will settle quite quickly. They are not sure why this happens. It is strange. Anyway, I am due for my banding on 24/11. I am so glad you have had minimal pain and not feeling hungry already. I had heard that you just do not become interested in food much anymore, which will be a blessing.

Good luck.:(

Thank you Penellij. I took your advice and stuck to the panadol. Worked a treat and pain was gone by about day 12. I had my first fill today. Apparently already had 3mls in and had another 1.5ml today. I have lost 8kg in the four weeks since having it done. Am feeling the hunger but know it will take a few fills to get it right. I was SO nervous about having the fill done but could barely feel the needle. Certainly wouldnt say it was painful. Next appointment is mid Jan. This will be the first Christmas in a long time that I dont gorge :)

Congrats on your surgery! Glad you are feeling better:) stick around LBT. It's a great resource. Welcome!
