August 23, 201015 yr Hi Everyone Does anyone know of a doctor (anywhere in the USA or Mexico) that will remove the omentum as part of the Lap Band surgery? Thank you all for being so nice to us newbies! eddieb
August 23, 201015 yr Confused. What is the omentum? Isn't it the layer of fat on your stomach? If it is then surely there is no point to having it removed when the band is placed. That would be like having a tummy tuck when you still have masses of weight to lose. The normal procedure is to get the band, lose weight and then get the tummy tuck to remove the last bits of stubborn fat and the excess skin. If it is something else please explain.
August 23, 201015 yr The omentum is a kind of tissue mass that joins all your internal organs together, a fatty layer that sort of looks a bit like slimy gladwrap. all your organs dont just float free in there, they are all sort of joined with this membrane. There is some theory around that removing it can help with obesity, but its speculative.
