FLEX DOLLARS for MX Surgery???

Does MX LB surgery qualify for FLEX spending account. I would like to pay for it with pretax $'s. The group that handles our Flex Plan is STILL checking into this. They really have NO Idea. They are The Benefit Group.

Has anyone else had experience with this.

I am going to be self pay - as I have a lower BMI and Doctor's in states won't consider it until a person is "further down that road" and believe me I am WELL on my way. Have been ALL my life. I just want off the nightmare ride of the Weight Roller Coaster.

Thanks for input!

I believe it does...I have my reciepts and plan to deduct from taxes for medical expenses. I don't see why not, I have always assumed you could use your Flex spending type health plans. Just be sure you get all the documentation you need from your MX doc before you leave MX! It's a bear to have to drag all that stuff up later. Kuri gave me all I needed no problem. It's looking up! Wait for feedback from our resident insurance experts, though. :)

My group Flex account will only let us put in $5,000.00 for medical expenses. I did this and used my 5,000 toward the surgery. It was not a problem. I wish I could have put more in, but using some pre-tax dollars is the way to go if at all possible.

I flexed it. (On a Section 125 account.) HOWEVER, it can only be legally flexed if it is a legally deductable medical expenses...and, since it sounds like you aren't MO, it may NOT be a deductable expense.
