BCBS Blue Advantage HMO

Does anyone know if BCBS HMO Covers LAP-BAND®, and the process that one must go through to start this? Whether it starts with the Primary Physician or, I am all sorts of confused here. OR would it be better to switch to the PPO then do it that way, my job offers both HMO and PPO. Not sure what would be better to do.

Hey,

I have Blue Cross PPO. I went to an AIGB clinic where I was preapproved and had to follow up with them for 3 months before I was approved for surgery. I think with HMO, your primary care physician would have to refer you. With PPO you can choose your doctor and start the process yourself as I did. Best thing to do is to call your insurance and figure our what the best route is and whether you are covered. Good luck!:(
