Looking for anyone who had surgery through Dr. Fuller at Scripps Clinic Center for Weight Management

in San Diego. I don't know anyone personally whose had the LapBand and I'm reading all of these posts and getting freaked out. liquid diets, PBing, sliming, band slipping... OH MY! My first consult is Wednesday July 7th and I'm so confused now I don't even know what to ask the Dr. My BMI is 35. I want my weight off, but I don't want to be miserable the rest of my life either. Yikes!

Liquid diets and mushies are a temporary thing while healing. Pb'ing and sliming occur because the bandster is either overfilled, made an error while eating, or tried a new food that isn't playing nice.

Everyone's experience with foods is different. Personally, there is not one food I can't eat...

Good luck and gather as much information as you can so you make the best informed decision for yourself.

I also started with a low BMI of 33. Some bandsters have to do a 1 - 2 week liquid diet leading up to the surgery in order to shrink their liver. My doctor did not make me do that...he explained that he only does that for BMI's over 40 as those livers typically have more fat and because the liver is right over where they need to put the band, its easier when the liver is smaller. The only liquid diet I had to do was for a week immediately after the surgery, than mushies for a week. This is so the stomach has a chance to heal. I also have to do liquids for 24 hrs. after a fill.

As far as PB'ing and sliming, if you eat to much or do not chew enough, you will get into these situations. I know many bandsters who have NEVER slimed or PB'd. Unfortunately, I have done both but it just reminds you that you have a band and while its uncomfortable at the time, I would not let it stop you from getting the surgery. It is the best decision I ever made! Good luck.

Awe, don't get stressed out. I think that a lot of people come on here asking questions about unfortunate things that they're experiencing. They want affirmation that other people have experienced the same things and they want tips and help on how to deal with them.

It's not like there are a lot of people posting about what a good day they're having with the lapband

Try not to think that it's the "norm"

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
