Can anyone relate to this problem? I was banded on May 17, after surgery, I felt fantastic. I was able to drink 2 hospital juices and 2 broths. However, the next few days after when I was sent home every time I tried to drink I had pain swallowing. I called the doctor as was told this was from internal swelling.
I continued to have this problem and went to see my doctor who check the band for fluid and found no excess fluid. She did a chest x ray and everything was normal. My esophagram showed no problems. The doctor said the band was not too tight. Blood work was done and all came back normal. I was told I needed to heal further internally for the swelling to go down.
The pain has lessen from the swallowing however, I still can not get down much fluid during the day.
I do not wish to get discouraged or negative so am hoping others have overcome the same or similar problems.
I need help staying positive.
Thank you,
John
