You know, everyone's dieticians are different! When I met with the surgeons dietician, he gave me my diet guidelines, and it confused me. There is no calorie limititations, nor portion sizes, it's basically a practice diet to get me used to eating like I will need to after I get banded! The dietician told me that their goal is not so much weight loss, if I lose weight that's great but it's not a requirement, as long as I don't gain 5 lbs or more.
I am supposed to eat at least 4 times a day, high protein, low carbs....eat the protiens first, then fruits and veggies, try not to eat many carbs, especially white bread, pasta and rice, and not to drink with my meals. I also have to learn to eat slowly, take small bites, and to chew really well.
I guess it's more of a behavior modification diet than anything else! I am assuming that I will lose some weight in 6 months time, since I am not eating so much as I would normally do. It's going to be interesting to see how this pans out!
