Surgery requirement changes for 2010?????

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone else was thinking about what kind of changes we might see in 2010 to the requirements for surgery.

Higher BMI numbers, longer/shorter diet requirement, longer period for proof of obesity, etc.

With all the talk on tv about health coverage, does anyone think that independent insurance companies will make their requirements harder so fewer people qualify just so they don't have to cover as many people.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Cathy

I know my company wants to take it away as a benefit. Only a couple of people have had some sort of bariatric surgery, but they want to take it away. I'm just glad that I'm getting mine done before they make any of these changes.

They say that there are too many complications that can arise and cost the company too much money. I think that's funny since only a couple of people have done it. The costs can't be that much. I would think the benefits of healthier employees would out weigh the initial costs of the surgery.
