    June Bugs?

I haven't been on this website in a few weeks and I'm so confused. Where did our social group June Bugs go? If anyone can help me find our group let me know. Otherwise I guess we can use this space. Anyway just wanted to see what everyone was up to and how we're all doing.

    Where will we be?

I was just reading posts wondering where I'll be a year from now. We're all getting the band around the same time and I wanted to see what your thoughts are. I'm hoping to have lost at least 50 pounds, although if I average the recommended 2 lbs per week I should hopefully be beyond that. I'm also hoping to be more active since I'll be able to get around easier with less weight. That's where I hope to be, what about you?
  3. Where are the social groups?!

  4. I thought I was the only one not finding the social groups. I'm so glad to have found a few of you at least.
  5. I haven't been on this site in a few weeks and I'm so confused. Where is our June Bugs group?

  6. For those of you who had hiatal hernia's repaired during surgery, did you know you had this beforehand? or did they tell you after surgery? I've read that a bunch of you have had this and I was wondering if it something that can go undiagnosed until they are in there. I've researched it and I really think I have it, but my surgeon has said nothing to me about it. I get horrible heartburn almost every night even when I don't eat anything that usually triggers heartburn. I also get pain right around the breast bone that hurts if I push on when I have this heartburn.
  7. I've been reading posts, but haven't really posted anything on the board in awhile.

  8. I had a milkshake. I was so sick of eating the same thing over and over again. Make sure you get your protein. I wasn't and was really weak. I'm on soft foods now and it's so much better now. I still haven't felt restriction tough. Kind of wondering what that feels like. Thanks for reading my blog. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself so its nice to know someone's reading.

  9. Surgery went well. I was very dizzy and nauseous the next day though and had to go to the ER. It was my fault. I knew the medicine was going to cause dizziness. I should have made them change it or get me nausea medicine. Doing better now. Although i feel like a ball is shoved up under my rib cage. Hoping its just swelling.

    How was your surgery?

    WII Fit

I agree with that it does groan when you do a fitness test. It shows your little mii and it gets bigger or smaller based on your BMI. Obviously mines always humongous. I think its kind of funny that its telling me I'm fat, but I'm hoping to improve on that. I want to see what it does when I lose a bunch of weight.

    Hiatal Hernia

Thanks for all your help. My surgery is on Monday. I'm going to make sure I mention this to my surgeon. We'll see if I have one or not.

    Hiatal Hernia

Thanks. I didn't have a chest x-ray, but I did have an esophagram. No one has said anything about it. I'm just hoping that this heartburn goes away. Sometimes I get it when I haven't even eaten anything.

    How long until surgery?

Sorry to say but it's different for everyone. There are different factors that determine how long its going to take: insurance, health issues, surgeon, etc. I personally when to a seminar in February and my surgery is set for June 14th, but I could have had it in May if I wanted. I wanted to wait until I was out of school so I chose June 14. My insurance required a supervised diet for 3 months and to see a psychologist. I had to go to my PCP once during February, March, and April. She faxed some documentation that I was trying to lose weight and I saw a psychologist once. I've read in other posts that some people have had to wait 6 months and have more testing done. My surgeons assistant was very knowledgeable about what my insurance required and had it all ready for me. I just followed what she requested. I've also read that some people have met with their surgeons multiple times and I have only met with him for my consultation and my pre-op appointment. Sorry this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but there is no definitive time line. Good luck to you, though.
  15. I haven't started the pre-op diet yet. I was suppose to go in last Monday to see the dietitian, but the appointment was canceled and rescheduled for tomorrow. I have a feeling they're going to start me on the pre-op diet the. I just don't know what kind it will be. I've read some people have been on a high protein diet where they can eat regular food, but some are on high protein liquid diet. I'm not really looking forward to either, but it does mean I'm getting closer to the surgery date.

  20. Just roaming around and saw you were being banded on June 14th. Me too! Good luck.

  21. I told my mom and three friends at work but that was even hard for me. I was really afraid of their preconceived ideas about losing weight and what the best ways to do it were. My mom has been very supportive, but I'm not telling anyone else in my family. My sister was banded a year ago and she told everyone. She then did not follow the plan, never exercised, and has gone back to normal eating habits. Everyone was very judgmental of her decision and I don't want the same thing to happen to me. Plus, as I was going back and forth on whether I wanted to do this, I decided that I'm doing this for me, not for anyone else. I really don't want or need anyone's opinions on my decision. Although, the support would be nice, I think sometimes people don't understand that what they think is "support" is not really encouraging.
  22. Does your boss realize that its against the law to divulge medical information? That's a big no no.

    Getting started

I'm getting banded on June 14th with Dr. Shayani. I am meeting with the dietitian, him, and getting some final tests done this Monday. I'm getting really excited. I'll let you know how everything goes. I'm not sure what insurance you have, but I went to a seminar in February and I'm getting banded 4 months later.
