Hi all fellow bandsters,

I was banded 7-29-08 by a wonderful Dr I've lost a little over 60 lbs. I know that I should have lost more by now, and it makes me sad. My husband doesn't really get it, he doesn't really support me, in fact I'll be having a weak minute (or two) and ask him for some sugar free ice cream, and he never questions it or try's to talk me out of it, he (God love him) just goes and gets it for me. I know that the weight loss isn't his fault by any means, but it doesn't help. I have two kids both teens who of course love to eat the crappy stuff and I of course buy it for them, but I have cut down in what I buy and have started buying more healthy stuff. I'm having problems with GERD and that's no fun, I was supposed to go to the Dr's yesterday but didn't want go, partly because I didn't want him to loosen the band as he's done before, and I don't feel like I've lost enough weight since the last time I was there. My sister had the gastric bypass done just about 4 months ago, and she's helped support me and tries to keep me in check. Maybe I need to go to an over eaters meeting...

Although I'm freshly banded, and have no real advice for you - I can totally relate to the husband issue. My husband actually prefers me fat, I think. I think he has issues with me losing weight, and is afraid that I'll "get skinny and leave him." It started out like your situation, with him offering to get me this or that - but when I started my pre-op liquid diet, he knew that there was no turning back for me. That's when he started purposefully trying to sabotage me. He's on the Atkins diet (for like the 50th time in 10 years) because he likes to be able to eat as much as he wants. So he'll grill steaks and ACTUALLY WAVE THEM IN MY FACE!! His father does the same thing - he actually called me one night to inform me that he'd just eaten chicken and dumplings and "not one, but TWO brownies!" I want to scream!

Weight loss is a mental thing for me anyway - and trying to play defense against those who love me makes it that much harder!

What about exercise? Do you have an exercise regimen in place? I'm only 10 days post op, so I can't do very much right now, and that's hard for me. I find that when I'm exercising, I don't WANT that ice cream because it will be that much more that I have to work off in the gym.

Good luck to you - prayers going up for you!

I would say you need to have a heart to heart with your spouse tell them how you feel. Your health is not going to change your feelings for your spouse. Your just trying to get healthy to improve your life and to be able be with your spouse longer. If you talk things out it "should" help.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
