Books you recommend?

I am getting the band in April and want to get as much information as possible so I can ensure I do everything right. I want to use this tool and put my unhealthy lifestyle behind me. There are 500+ items on Amazon.com that have to do with the band. Anyone find a favorite book to help you in this journey? What about a great post-surgery cookbook?

Anything?

“Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies”, “Lap-Band Companion”, “Weightloss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band”. I bought these off amazon and like them. They will be really good for you if you have not been banded yet. They explain the whole process. Hope that helps.

Beck Diet Solution--I liked the workbook. (Same content as the book, but with room to respond)

The food and Feelings Workbook by Karen R. Koenig

Neither is specific to banding or WLS--but both help with the emotional aspect of eating and overweight.

Even more esoteric is Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl--about finding happiness in even the worst situations (the author was a concentration camp inmate who managed to find meaning and beauty even there). I have read this book probably 100 times; I always seem to return to it when I need a nudge to see difficulties more positively.
