On my way!!

Good morning All,

I had my second f/u with my surgeon Dr. Monk so he could answer and questions I had and we could go over blood work. He has such a dull personality, I could have fallen asleep! LOL… Anyway, my Vitamin D is low and my albumin is low. I have high cholesterol and too low for my good cholesterol as well as high blood pressure. He said eat more meat and take cod liver oil pills… YUCK! :smile2::sad:

He didn’t really sway one way or the other as far as the Lab band v.s. the GB. I did ask him how many he has done and he said only about 35 LB in the past year and a half and about 1,600 GB. So I am a little concerned about the amount of LB he has done:unsure: but out off the 35 people none have had trouble. However he has not had anyone who will have a pregnancy yet. That also worries me because it is a possibility in the next year or so. He said both surgeries are ok with pregnancies you just need to watch your vitamins. He said I CANT be a good mother at the weight I am at…:)

I asked him which surgery based on my history he thinks would be best. He just said that if you want to loose weight quick do the GB but if you want it more slower then do the LB.

Five more months to go before the big day…

wow. i would look for a new surgeon. 35 bands seems kind of low to me.

also, my advice is to find a surgeon you click with because to be successful i believe you need to be willing to have a very open and longterm relationship with your surgeon.

also, his comment about that you "CAN'T" be a good mother at your weight...well, that would not sit well with me. sure, i know i am a better mother now that i am getting healthy....but that seems WAY out of line for a surgeon to say.
