  1. You know, I went a year and 3 fills and thought, hmmmm I'm just going to be one of those people who can eat what ever and a larger portion and just one cup. WRONG!!! I had a fill a few weeks ago and it made all the difference in the world. Night and day, I couldn't possibly eat more than a cup of food and I have to quit when I start to feel full cuz one bite too many and it is coming back up and is very painful. It has taken me 3 weeks to learn to eat completely different than what I am used to. You have to get to the right "spot" for the band to work how it is intended. I wish you luck in your continued journey, take it slow. You Can Do It!!!!
  2. No, once you are healed, you should be able to do anything you want.
  3. Praying for you! Good Luck!
  4. YES, my Dr. told me the same thing, that is why, I think, I can have such good restriction for several months and then it seems to get less and less and I need another fill. I've been at my "sweet spot" more than once may I say!
  5. Good for you. I was at my dr.'s office for a check up one day and she asked me "are you happier". I just sat there for a minute then I said. "Wow, ya, I am. I never thought I was unhappy but I am soooo much happier". I didn't even realize how unhappy I was. It's crazy the differences the band can make in our lives in so many different ways. Congrats to you and keep up the good work!
  6. It does almost sound like a "stuck" episode. You would be best to talk to your dr. about it. More important than your protien right now is fluids. You do not want to get dehydrated. Actually, if you are dehydrated that could have something to do with your stomach pain. I did not have to be on Clear liquids except for a day. I got my protien by drinking carnation instant Breakfast in skim milk. One cup was like 13 g of protien if I remember. It's just like drinking nestle quick. By all means, you do not want to throw up. You really need to speak to your dr. about both issues. Welcome to lap band world. Good Luck to you on your journey.
  7. no, you should be fine. It might not be your dr. rules but the rules are so different for so many of us. I just had to be on liquids for 3 days and then could go to mushies. You should try to follow your Dr's orders but no harm done.
  8. tkw - 320 just 1 pound, but I'll take it.
  9. From what I have read and learned... your band is too tight.
  10. Every Dr is different. I was told no coffee because it is a diuretic. I have asked about it since and have been told if i drink enough fluids in a day coffee is fine. My nut. said for every cup of regular coffee i need to drink an additional 16 oz. of Water. Who knows.....???
  11. Well, I have no idea, but it seems a little soon to me. Best to call his Dr. and ask. I am one of those people that was too big for a lot of rides at theme parks. Can't wait to strap my butt in and ride!!! Yippee!!!
  12. Some people don't need a fill for quite a while. You could be one of them.
  13. Hi, I didn't know we had a June 2010 group. I just kind of stick to the main forums and i was snooping around on here. How are we all?
  14. Great for you! I lived on cottage cheese. Not much flavor but lots of protien.
  15. can you crush it and mix it with a drink? Try putting it between 2 spoons and crush them together like you are stacking them.
  16. Hi, you have quite a story. I wish you luck. I have found this site to be more helpful than anything else. Welcome
  17. Each fill seems like a learning experience to me. That was quite a fill, remember, small, slow, well chewed bites! Good Luck
  18. I lost 19 pounds the first month, 11 the second month and 14 the thrid month. I have been averaged 10 pounds a month.
  19. I think you just need to start anew. How is your restriction, do you think you need a fill? #1 rule, eat protien first, that would be a start. The idea of eating protien first is to fill you up and keep you full which should keep you from eating the junk (somewhat). It will also take some will power. Also, do not drink when you eat. You need to get back to the basic rules of the band. If you haven't been to your dr. for a while, go. It's a battle but one you can win!!! Good Luck!
  20. Well, it is all pretty normal. For some it can take a good while for the swelling in your stomach to go down, that is why the liquid diet. The Heart attack feeling, I think, is because of the solids you are eating. That is what getting "stuck" feels like. Chewing your food really really well will help but sometimes it is more the size of the bite or how fast you eat it. I wonder if your Dr left any Fluid in your band after surgery? I don't know what the pain is you are feeling when you take a deep breath. I doubt the band has slipped unless you have thrown up a lot. It will get easier, and now that you get mushies that will help. Don't be afraid to call your Dr with any questions. Good Luck to you!
  21. I'm going on a year post op and just bought a food scale today. My last fill was very tight, I am finally only eating less than a cup of food but am finding it challenging to get my protien in now, so i feel like i need to be more percise on exactlly how much protien I am eating. I bought my scale at WalMart, they had 4 or 5 to pick from under $30.oo
  22. agree... the band can be tempermental. You must have swelling from something.
  23. Glad you're feeling good. Take it easy for a few days! Yippee!!!
  24. Can you give me an example of how you get that much protien in a day. What is your calorie intake?
  25. Haven't had a protien shake since week 1. My Dr. told me no liquid calories either. And yes, I do go through the interrogation process when I go for a fill. Doesn't bother me, I feel like they really want me to succeed plus it helps them determine if I need a fill or not. Keep up the Battle!
