Hi Guys,I've been yo-yoing for the past 30 years leading to low self esteem, low mood, 'mask wearing', medication etc etc..Tried several diets, managed to get to my fighting weight in 1985 and 1990.  Seemed to have psychological issues which were not addressed leading to weight gain..again.. Eventually saw my GP and she was very supportive, trying appetite suppressors, CBT and referral to Weight Disorder Clinic (which had a 1 year waiting list!).  Out of desperation, discovered the topic of weight loss surgery in particular the Gastric Balloon.  I went to Poland to have it fitted at half the price of the UK...but no support given.  Initially things went well and I lost 40 pounds over 3 months, but some family issues reared their ugly heads and I was able to gain all the weight I lost plus some extra over the next 3 months.

I was using destructive coping strategies of alcohol on top of binge eating, leading to poor quality of life.  Out of further desperation I re-revisited the field of weight loss surgery, and in particular, the Lap Band.  The idea of it physically restricting the stomach leading to unpleasant side effects if abused appealed.  I understand it is not a magic cure and I have to change my eating habits for the rest of my life.  Learning from my experiences with the Gastric Balloon, I have booked myself in to a local private hospital which promises close support for the next 2 years.  I realise I need support to help me, I cannot do it on my own.  It will be a long journey with highs and lows, but if I am able to turn to forums such as this one then I have a chance.
