    Vitamins

I get my Vitamins and Calcium chewables from www.unjury.com They are made for lap band patients or gastric bypass patients and are delicious. They also do not have lots of chinese herbs and stuff in them. They are very affordable and are wonderful! I also get my Protein powder here and it is delicious! Hope this is helpful! Pam
  3. Vitamin D deficiency can also be a problem. My endocrinologist checks this level regularly when my thyroid levels are done.

    Worried

Hi all, I got banded on the 15th of October and am down 14 lbs. I'd read posts here about weight loss BEFORE restriction and I decided to take the weeks before my first fill (which will be on December 8th) to try and get my new routinues in order and hopefully become good HABITS! I decided I wouldn't worry about weight loss until after the fill. I still need to up my exercising but I'm great on drinking Water and getting my Vitamins and Calcium. Baby steps! As my husband told me....I didn't wake up one morning this size and I won't wake up tomorrow 14 sizes smaller..... Gotta love that man for putting stuff in perspective....lol We will do this together! Hugs! Pam
  5. I ordered my Vitamins and Calcium from unjury.com where I get my Protein powders. I got them on Monday and they are wonderful! The multi Vitamin is once a day and berry flavored. The calcium tablets are 4 a day and taste wonderful - sort of like a citrus candy. The vitamins are free of herbs and stuff that the GNC brands had in them. I was blown away by how great these are! The last of my puzzle pieces are now in place!!!
  6. Hi Bono, I was banded on October 15th and really didn't have any severe pain. The one place I really felt anything was where the port is and it was mostly a "stinging sensation'" rather than outrite pain. I noticed a little bit of the gas pain stuff. Getting up and walking around seemed to help that the most. I took two doses of children's tylenol and that was about it. I never even filled the prescription for percoset. I was banded in Morehead City, NC by Dr. Michael Bell at the surgery center. He was great! Took a while for the bowel movements to start back but what can you expect on a liquid diet?....lol. Moving was the best medicine in my case. I went yesterday for my two week post op followup and everything was great. I'm moving to mushy, chewable foods since yesterday and am feeling great. As my surgeon said....now the fun part begins - as the weight starts to fall away! Hang in there! Pam

    Post Op Clear Liquid Diet

I bought the unflavored, the chocolate splendor and the vanilla. when on full liquids I mix one scoop of the vanilla (20 grams) with a carnation instant Breakfast, and about a cup and 1/2 of 2% milk. I'm learning to drink something other than whole milk and started with 2%. I'll move to 1% the next time I go to the grocery store. I fill the rest of the glass with ice and that's breakfast. It also has 35 grams of Protein which is half of what I need for the day. I also mix the vanilla and chocolate in sugar free Jello pudding which makes 4 servings. That's 5 grams per serving and a great dessert. I use the unflavored in Soups or crystal lite lemonade or tea. It's a process and they have some good recipes on the site. I found this protein site when my Mom was going through chemo. It's medical grade and in my opinion the best. I love the Vitamins and calcium they sell as well. They are chewable and don't have lots of strange herbs or stuff in them. Hope this helps!

    Post Op Clear Liquid Diet

I was banded on October 15th. I was on clear liquids the first week and full liquids the second week. One key thing is to be sure you get your 60-70 grams of Protein. That will keep you from getting hungry. I use the protein powders from unjury.com. It's medical grade, comes in 6 flavors and the unflavored disolves like magic with NO aftertaste! I put it in a glass of crystal lite lemonade. It will make it a little cloudy but the taste is not changed. I put it in chicken broth as well. They have a great website and have bariatric Vitamins without lots of herbs and things in them. Be sure you are getting your vitamins and your Calcium. That will also help with the shakiness. Drink lots of Water and fluids. I also had Jello (the the Protein powder added) and held it in my mouth until it disolved. I jazzed up the beef and chicken broth with some spices and that was great for the taste. I went today for my two week post op appointment and everything was great. I have great energy ( I actually painted my bedroom the Sunday after my Friday surgery) and I feel great! I had no pain and only took two doses of children's tylenol after surgery. My incisions have healed and my surgeon told me now the fun part begins! Today I'm moving up to mushy foods and it feels strange to chew. Hang in there and be patient. Everything will come together. My daughter has an appointment to get her final consult tomorrow and pick her band date! I'm so excited for all of us! Hugs, Pam
  9. Hi all! I'm scheduled for my LAP-BAND® tomorrow and just wanted to introduce myself to the board. I'm a 55 yr old, married, mother of two married children and one Dalmatian and grandmother to three FOUR LEGGED Grandchildren. (an olde english bulldog and two Havanese)...I'm in the medical field and have been researching this for about a year now. My husband is a teacher and very supportive of my decision. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you as we take this great journey together! I am being banded at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, North Carolina by Dr. Michael Bell.
