    Full Liquids

Just moved out of the full liquid phase but what got me through was water, diet cranberry juice diluted with water, premier protein shakes chocolate, vanilla, banana, and strawberry cream. I had sf Popsicles and jello but what really got me through was the broth from drained French onion and chicken tortilla soup. Good luck this phase goes by fast!
  2. I'm 2-3 days post op also and was approved to use Premier Protein and GenPro. So far so good with fluids but I'm with you in the pain department and miss that IV drip lol! I plan on using Premier Protein during my journey and luckily so far can still tolerate the flavor so I bought. Good Luck!

    Surgery Date 10/31/2016

How's everyone doing? My surgery was Monday and I was released Tuesday. I have to say coming home and off the iv meds has been hard and I'm in quite a bit of pain. Looking forward to it being like a month from now lol! Hope everyone's surgery went well. We're on the losing side yay!

    Surgery Date 10/31/2016

My surgery date is October 31st too. Going in for gastric bypass following a lap band leak and removal about a year ago. Am at my highest weight now but was able to be successful with my LB before it leaked so looking forward to working my "new permanent tool." Am on liquids now, had my pre-op yesterday and check in Monday at 6:45 am. Based on everyone's suggestions and lots of YouTube videos I have picked up Biotene, Gas X strips, Chapstick, and comfy pants for the hospital and will be taking one of my own pillows. I downloaded a timer app to remind me to drink and have picked up multiple types of flavored and unflavored protein powders, shakes, water flavorers, soups that can be blended, and vitamin patches to get me through the first few days of being home. I'm having surgery at Kaiser South Bay by Dr. Robert Zane and if all goes well should only have to stay in the hospital one night. Good Luck to you on your surgery and I look forward to sharing our stories when we are on the losing side!

    October Surgery Buddies

Band to Bypasser here scheduled for October 31st! Had success with the band until it got a leak about 1.5 years ago and now weigh 30 lbs more than my highest weight before the band. Did develop quite a bit of acid reflux/heartburn in the latter stages of my band experience but had the band removed almost 6 months ago and it has completely resolved. Feeling nervous, anxious, scared and a bit skeptical but mostly feeling hopeful. Have been scouring the web and o.d.ing on YouTube videos just ready for the surgery date to get here now. Have my pre-op appt. October 21st and will start pre-op liquid diet then. Congrats and good luck to all my fellow GBer's. Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing our journeys!
  6. Hi All, I was banded on Sept 21st so am two weeks and 2 days out. I have two questions about the port.....I have had today for the second time aprox 5 days of feeling really great having no pain at the port site then waking up and feeling really sore again after little to no change in activity. Did this happen to anyone else? Also, when I'm feeling around on my stomach there are two seperate loc aprox 2-3 inches apart that have a tough non natural feeling under the skin. I'm assuming one is my port but can't figure out what the second bump is unless it was the grid my port is supposed to be attached to and my port has broke free from it. I have my first follow up this week so I'll know soon. Thanks in advance for any responses. I love this site! Elizabeth
  7. I can't believe it....Seminar Aug 1st, Psych Eval Aug 13th, Dr/Nutirionist Aug 14th, Approved Aug 24th, Pres Surgury Appt Sept 10th and Surgery Scheduled for Sept 21st. My only advise would be to be very organized....ask for names of pyschologists/nutritionists and make appts yourself, get dates for paperwork submission, then followup with those offices to make sure their deadlines are kept. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Oh, I self pay for individual insurance so my copay will be my max annual out of pocket of $4k, I have a health flex spending plan through my job so my portion will be $800.00 plus the $250.00 for psych eval and $140.00 for the nutritionist visit. My BMI is 40 w/no co-morbidities.
