I had surgery november 2008. I had been having high blood sugars. Both my sisters are overweight also and had been diagnosed with Diabetes. I did not want to be diabetic. I had injured my back in 2003 and I had to have back surgery in 2002. I was having difficulty getting around, with limited mobility. I felt my only answer was a life change. Weight loss surgery. I had surgery in November of 2008 and started my weight loss journey.I use muscle milk light as a meal for breakfast, Not a breakfast person. So this helps me use my tool and allows me to get my day started with protein. I do not eat bread, and I can no longer tolerate eggs or cereal...So this is what works for me. I do drink a cup of coffee or tea in the mornings.I do not eat lunch...UNless I am feeling hungry.( I eat cheese and meat roll ups if I am hungry. I will ask myself, Am I hungry? before i EAT. I make sure I am hungry before i EAT. It has taken me awhile to "listen" to my band. I have thrown up due to eating wrong things, eating too fast or not chewing enough. I have had numerous fills to my band. It is a process. It is important to me to keep my fills current. I had My 1 year check up and I had lost 62 pouds.I had my band checked using flourascope and everything was fine but I was disapointed. I WANTED TO LOOSE MORE! I continue to loose weight. My first goal was 100 pounds. I hit that mark at 20 months. (July 2010). I have introduced excercise into my routine. Lets be realistic. Three days a week I will excercise. Walk, Swim or Bike. I do not beat myself up if I do not get three days in. I have always done two days per week so far. It is a start. Like I said It is a journey and It doesn't happen over night and I am 47 years old.I have 7 cc"s of saline in my band and it is working for me. I started in a size 26 and I am wearing a size twelve pant...so I am very happy with the lap band. I am off most of my medications...and feel so much better. The journey is continuing for me... This is my story...
