  1. hi midossey, thanks so much for your email. also thanks as i was giving up hope a bit about being a good candidate for a lapband. your a very nice lady and i hope everything is going good for you. if you would like you could email me every now and again and let me know how you are doing. kindest regards cakey x
  2. hi, i dont know if i have an ulcer but im scared about it because i had "helibactor pylori" in 2007 which is a parasite which is a corkscrew shape and burrows into the wall of the stomach and weakens it, ( pls dont freak as although over 90% of all of us have it fat or small it only affects a few people in any way). also i read that you can have an ulcer and not know it. id be so very grateful to hear from anyone who has had an ulcer or any other type of acid reflux or gastric problem but was still able to get thier band. i would just want to curl up and die if i couldnt go ahead and get my band, i want it so much and am so ready . if you do have any info or experience please please come back and share it with me. all the very best cakey x
  3. hi shixa, im not sure yet but may be in the same boat as you. did you mean that you went for the gastric sleeve instead and is it reversible, not like the stapled bypass. i would never consider it. hope you will let me know and also how you are doing now. thanks so much cakey x

  7. hi cwm812, id really appreciate if you would let me know what meds they used so you could get your lapband. cause all i seem to keep reading is that if you have an ulcer you cant get a lapband and i was so happy to be getting one, to then think this could mean i cant. im devestated. hope u are doing well j

  12. hi, would anyone out there be good enough to share their experience or knowledge of whether i can get a band as i had h-pylori about 3 years ago and dont know if i have an ulcer or not(idont have symptoms)., but apparently i wont be able to get my band if i have a suspected ulcer. i will be devastated as i so want to go ahead. i dont want to talk to clinics until i know whether they will turn me away. im paying for it myself and dont want to mess up my chances. help! thanks so much
  13. hi lillou, thankyou so much for your email. i would be really grateful if you could email me the surgeon and team you went ahead with, id really appreciate it. cant thank you enough and its great to hear how well you have done you must be over the moon, congrats im very happy for you. kindest regards jacqui x
  14. hi everyone, id love to hear from anyone who knows or has experience of the question of whether having an ulcer disqualifies you from getting a lapband. i would be gutted after finally making the decision to go ahead to learn that if you have had any ulcer type thing wrong with you it meant you couldnt get a lapband. i have been on such a high thinking im getting a band yeah! and imagining myself slim and staying slim without the heartache of thinking im just going to put it all on again. im not even sure i had an ulcer for sure. it was about 3 years ago and my doctor said i tested positive for "h - pylori" and he gave me anti-biotics and that was it, ive had no obvious problems since. but im so scared that this will scupper my getting the op, i ll be devastated. if anyone has info that can help id be so grateful to them. all the best jacqui x
  15. hi everyone, can anyone who is post op recommend a good surgeon or know of a good surgeon either at home or abroad. would be grateful to know as im just starting out. thanks guys
  16. hi scottishnellie, first thanks so much for contacting me, it was very kind. i havent heard of surgical obesity solutions and wondered who your doc is and why you finally felt safe enough to go with them, they could be an option for me maybe. i hope your not to worried about hubby and spending the money, as i did feel guilty about that but dont now because its your health and u cant put a price on that. anyway i think you are determined and i hope it will come together just fine. from the stories i ve been reading most people just regret not getting the band sooner, so i know you ll work it out with hubby ok. just tell him to think about you slim in a tight pair of jeans and i bet he ll think about it. you seem like a smart lady and will get there and i really hope you do. wishing u the best of luck with it all. kindest regards jacqui x
  17. hi brian, i cant than,k you enough. its very good advice and some i hadnt thought off. also through your sharing your experience it has really made me less scared to go ahead, i hear what you say do the research and then get the op and a new chance at life. do you know if you have had an ulcer in the past doe's that mean u cant get a band?. dont worry about answering me if you busy, its no problem and you have been very kind contacting me with sensible/practical advice. i hope you are still doing great and continue to do so. lol jacqui
  18. hi, im new and wanted to ask did you have any problems having it done in belguim or where you happy with the whole procedure and of course would you recommend dr bruyge with no worries. im uk based and havent read enough yet from this site but want to go ahead so bad.do u know is it true that he wont treat people who have had ulcer problems in the past or is this wrong. anyway you are doing fantastic and i hope you reach target, somehow i dont think you ll have any problems. its good to read about people like yourself it gives you hope and the guts to go ahead with the op. thankyu for that stay well lol jacqui
  19. hi, im new and will gratefully accept all the help i can get. if anyone was kind enough to be a buddy/mentor that would be fab! could anyone let me know of a good surgeon or clinic that they would recommend, i dont mind if its here or abroad aslong as its safe and you felt and were safe. also has anyone used the uk s whygoabroad for their op and did it go well. i cant even get them to return my phonecalls which seems strange. any info/advice would be gratefully recieved as i ve made the decision to go ahead and the sooner the better for me and now just want to get the knowledge to go to the best place and be safe. i could really use all the advice and the benefit of peoples experiences so i go to the best place. thanks guys x jacqui
  20. hi i would love to hear from anyone in the uk either pre or post op. im a newbie and terrified to even bring it up with my gp, so im trying to just go ahead and get a loan and pay for it myself. my main problem is that i have bad joint problems and think if i could lose the weight it would help my joints. i am terrified that i will die during the op or how to find the best surgeon?. i just dont know what to do all i know is im so unhappy living this way, not going out because im ashamed to be seen and very very lonley. id really love to hear from someone. thanks guys
  21. hi everyone, im new and i hope im in the right place. im so glad i found this website its great. i was looking forward so much to getting my lapband after wasting so much time debating it. unfortunatley i have a question that im really scared could mean i cant get a lapband. my problem is that i remembered that about 2 and a half years ago my doc said i had an ulcer and i was treated and have been ok since. but my fear is that if you have had an ulcer or a history of one ,as apparently you can still have one with no symtoms - go figure! does this mean that you cant have a lapband. i would be so grateful to anyone who has knowledge or experience to help me answer this question. for instance can the surgeon place the band away from an ulcer so it doesnt irritate of affect it. im really panicing that i wont be able to get my band because of this. again i would really appreciate anyone coming back to me who has any experience or knowledge/any information that could help me with this. thank you all so much luv cakey:confused::thumbup:
  22. hi everyone, im new and just starting to educate myself so i can get a lapband, i mean i want it yesterday so so bad. my problem is that about 2 years ago my doc said i had a ulcer. i havent had any ulcer related problems since i got treated but my question is can you still get a lapband if you either have an ulcer or a history of one. even if you have an ulcer can the surgeon place the band so it doesnt irritate it or be near it. i would really appreciate if anyone who has had this particular problem or knowledge of what happens in this situation contacting me. after making the decision to go ahead i remembered the ulcer treatment and i would be gutted if it meant i couldnt go ahead and get my lapband. again i would be so grateful for any information you could give to help me. thank you so much luv cakey:confused::thumbup:
  23. hi melaniediva1, just a quick message to thank you so much for your kindness replying to me. it gives me so much hope and such a lift! you are so sweet. i didnt think about what you said about eating and emotions, but the minute you said it i thought of all the times i was eating stuff i wasnt tasting, didnt want or need and was busting full, so although i hadnt even thought it really i think its true and as you say very powerful and you need, or i ll need to deal with it too. im very happy that you have come through the operation and are doing so well and long may you keep doing so, i ll be routing for you. so thank you again, i hope we can have the odd chat and would love if you let me know from time to time how you are getting on. mostly im just very pleased for you. it takes guts to go through the operation or any operation and seem a very brave person. i wish you all the best and hope to hear from you.
  24. hi, im looking for a buddy as i have just joined after making the decision to have a LAP-BAND® fitted and im so scared. i know less than nothing and im terrified of getting a surgeon who will mess me up some way for life. i ve been a big girl most of my life but over the last 11 years i just cant go out, im to ashamed to socialise, i feel disgusting. i would be so grateful for someone to guide me a bit and give me the benefit of thier knowledge and i could use a friend to get me through this. it might sound over the top, but i ve reached the point that i dont have a life outside of food which i hate! but cant give up and have said to my hubby that i dont care if there is complications and i die during the operation as i have no life anyway. im sure i sound like a miserable mare but im not, im usually really upbeat and positive but i think that im just at the end of my rope of being the big girl who hides away or who people say " sure havent you a lovley face anyway". im in the uk but would welcome help from anyone kind enough to take the time to give it. thank you so much. :tongue2::thumbup:
