  1. Hi, i was banded in June of 07, and i did great right off the bat. I had 1 fill and i lost just over 70 pounds, then i went in for my second fill and stopped losing completely. I have been slowly gaining back the weight, and i can't keep anything down, i throw up about twice a day. I went to see my fill doc last month to see about getting some fill removed, but she said i was underfilled and gave me some more. Lately i've been considering getting the band removed and having RNY. What are the differences? Do you get stuck and throw up as much with RNY? What are the downsides to RNY? Any help is appreciated.... Thanks
  2. I can't give you any advice, but i do hope that you feel 100% better soon. Good Luck.
  3. Hi all, i know i joined this thread a couple of weeks ago, but never posted again, sorry about that. I'm usually pretty satisfied to just lurk and read about other's experiences. My pre-op diet is supposed to start tomorrow, and i'm not sure wether i'm supposed to be on full or clear liquids. I got an informational e-mail from the office in which they said full, and then when i talked to somebody else from the office they said clear. I'm trying to figure it out before tomorrow, i don't want to do anything to mess this up. After hearing about so many 14 day clear diets, mine seems really short and i'm not sure wether it's a bad thing or a good thing. Also, congratulations to everyone who is already banded and thank you for sharing your experiences, it's really helping me and i'm sure everyone else, prepare for the surgery. I'm not sure how nervous i am, i feel fine about the surgery, but i keep on dreaming about it, so i'm sure it's affecting me more than i think it is. Funny thing about the dreams is that in them i always wake up with no pain at all and proceed to eat. A lot. Guess that won't be happening! Ok, that's all i've got for now, i hope you all have a great day.
  4. Hi everybody, another June bandster here. I'm getting banded on June 19th in Monterrey with Dr. Rumbaut. I was scheduled for January 07 but i got gastritis 2 weeks before surgery so i had to postpone. I had no idea there was a june thread already! I'm glad i found you guys. :biggrin1:
  5. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people read over my shoulder. I love my mom, but she does this all the time when I check or reply to e-mail. It also bothers me when people feel the need to point out that someone is either overweight or has gained weight. Overweight people are aware of this, it doesn't need to be pointed out. That's all I've got.
  6. I was scheduled for surgery Jan, 16 and i pigged out, a lot. I ate a lot of spicy and fried things and that combined with stress led to severe gastritis. I had to postpone my surgery till June. My advice, watch out, it was NOT worth the agonizing week of pain i went through.
  7. Thank you Sunshine, that's very sweet of you. Yes, i'm recovering, i wasn't able to eat more than a couple tablespoonfuls of ceral per day for a while there, and i lost 10 pounds right off the bat. I'm still super careful about what i eat (nothing fried, no caffeine, no chocolate, no spicy food which is really hard cause i live in Mexico) kind of feels like a really strict diet. But i'm feeling much better.
  8. Hey, i haven't been here for a while. I got pretty sick and was in bed for about a week. Apearantly i had "Severe, severe gastritis", yes, the doctor said severe twice. I'm not having surgery today because my stomach wouldn't be able to handle it, so i'm rescheduled... for june. It sucks but i'm ok with it. Just wanted to check in. Hope everybody is doing great. Good luck to everybody scheduled for today.
  9. Dr. Roberto Rumbaut at the Obesity Surgery Center. It's really cool that it's the same place and same time.
  10. Hey Sula, where in Mexico are you going? I'm having my surgery on the 16th too! If you are in Monterrey, maybe we'll run into each other.
  11. Sunshine, thank you for your concern. I like it that you always have something nice and encouraging to say to everybody. I think it makes everybody feel better. I just called my doctors office and he's out of town, but i left my phone number and the receptionist is going to let one of the other doctors know about my problem and they are going to call me back. I hope everything works out though. Sunnysea, have you considered Mexico? I'm having my surgery in Monterrey and it's costing me 10,500 including 3 nights at a hotel and all the pre-op tests etc. I hope you find something that works for you. Audree, i know you're not going to be checking this website for a while, but i wish you all the best. Keep us posted once you're up to it.
  12. Hey Guys, i got that really horrible pain again today, and it was the worst pain i have ever felt. My mom took me to the doctor and it turns out i have gastritis. I wonder if i'm going to have to postpone my surgery? I really hope that i don't have to. I'm going to call the doctors office and see what they say.
  13. Hey Guys, i just wanted to check in. Jen, Kellie and Susan, i hope that everything went just great and you all feel better than expected. Audree, good luck! Let us know how it went once you get back from TJ. I'm praying for all of you. So far i am dealing with the upcoming surgery quite well, but i think i might be more nervous than i thought. For two nights now i have woken up in the middle of the night with terrible pain in my abdomen, kinda feels like gas. It keeps me up for at least 3 hours and i can't find a comfortable position. The only thing that helps is to walk around or sit up REALLY straight. We got my dad a massaging chair for christmas, so i sit in that. When i was 5 years old and we had just moved to Mexico i used to get really nervous to go to school because i didn't speak the language, and i got really bad stomach aches every day for about 2 weeks. Maybe this is kind of like that. Anyways, i'm hoping i'll sleep better tonight. Good night everybody Linda 13 days!!!
  14. Hey Audree, i hope you get better soon, i read somewhere on this site that one person had to postpone her surgery because she had the flu, but i don't think that they would postpone it for a cold. I'd call Dr. Ortiz to check anyways. Hope it all works out.
  15. Wow, congratulations!!! I'm so glad that you're doing well. I hope things continue to go great for you. I'll keep you in my prayers.
