its amazing how many people will view my question but no one feels it necessary to respond to me. I thought this was a support board

is this hunger?
I have a gnawing feeling at the top of my stomach... I feel "full" but this feels like hunger pangs (pains). Not sure whether I'm dealing with hunger or not. I've had 2 shakes and some Soup today. (was banded on 4/1) having some issues with gas, but walking and gasX are helping. These don't feel like gas pains... any thoughts?

I'm so confused!!!
Thanks guys! I'm moving as much as I can, trying to cough too- hard to get a good one though with the stomach soreness. I AM very tense, didn't occur to me that it had anything to do with my breathing. Other than that, I have been sip, sip, sipping and NO straw. I think my stomach tried to growl earlier, but I'm not sure LOL... I am sick to death of the damn shakes, they are so sweet, even with the "unflavored" (my ass) one mixed in. I tried it mixed into some Soup during my pre-op diet, and the crap tasted sweet, almost like vanilla. YUK.. I've never been a big fan of sweets or sweetness . Anyway, I'm grouchy so enough griping. Thank you all for responding

drinking shakes
Ok thanks everyone.. I'm so absentminded that I posted something similar just a few moments ago again ... I feel like a dork ... I just feel so helpless. I've been on this site for so long (been researching lapband for almost 2 yrs) but now that it's happened I'm lost. *sigh*

I'm so confused!!!
I was banded on Friday the 1st. Starting today I can start "eating" full liquids. Well I'm not hungry at all, I have gas pains and feel slightly nauseous because of them. I know I should take some nourishment, all I'm drinking is broth and water. I tried drinking my meal replacement shake today, just a little at a time (eventually I'm supposed to drink 3 of these a day until I can take mushies/solids) I don't see how I can do all this!!!! I don't want to eat anything it's all so overwhelming and I don't know who to turn to. I know a few ppl that have been banded, one is struggling with being "good" and the other one did all sorts of horrible things one week after being banded (eating pasta etc). Please help me! Tell me I'm not going to get sick or start losing my hair or whatever else until I can start getting my protein in ...

drinking shakes
hmm... it may be somewhat emotional... however I'm just afraid of nausea and vomiting too. I'm not too sure how long I'm supposed to feel "full" after drinking a shake. I mean technically it's a slider food. And I am not even hungry to begin with. Just trying to do what I thought was right

drinking shakes
I was banded 3 days ago and my doctor said I could start full fluids today, to include the Meal Replacement Protein shakes. They are 8oz and I was wondering how long I should take to finish one of them. I'm sure I'm still quite swollen, not hungry either, but my surgeon called yesterday and said for me to make sure I start taking in nutrition besides broth and the clear protein shots he prescribed. I've been sipping on one for half an hour and probably only drank about 2 oz of it. If that. I'm afraid of drinking anything fast, to tell the truth. So what's the ideal time to finish one? I think I'll put it back in the fridge and save the rest for my next two meals LOL. Nicole

Banded yesterday... Is this normal?
I had the exact same gas pain. I was banded on 4/1 and the pain under my breast bone became unbearable sometimes. GasX didn't help, moving around did, but only to an extent. I ended up taking rests and laying or sleeping on my left side (my port is up front near my belly button) and that helped pass it, or at least move it around to a more bearable spot. I'm on Day 3 now, and even though I can tell there is still some in there, they pain is gone for now. What a relief! I cried last night, wondering what I'd done to myself with this surgery. Today I'm on full fluids and not sure exactly what to eat/drink. I resorted to a Meal Replacement shake. Don't know how much I can get down though. Anyway, try the moving around and the laying on your left side (if your port allows it) left side helps your digestive system move things. Good luck!

banded today.. pressure in stomach normal?

banded today.. pressure in stomach normal?
OMG... KimKY, I just saw we have the same surgeon I was banded down in E-town though!!! I really like Bluegrass Bariatrics; the people are so nice

banded today.. pressure in stomach normal?
thanks.. I have been walking a lot, when not sleeping for an hour here and there. I've had abdominal surgery twice before (4 times if you count c-sections) but have never had gas pain. I'm sort of reclining on my left side now, with no pressure on the port and its helping;

banded today.. pressure in stomach normal?
I got banded this morning... even if I sip on my broth or water, I get stomach pressure that sits up under my ribcage. Is that from the gas? I have a hard time trying to burp it up, and have been taking GasX, but am still very uncomfortable. Add that to my back pain from the arthritis and I'm not too happy right now. But I guess I'm glad I did this so far. Ridiculously, however, I'm craving saltines since they are my "sick" food when I'm not well LOL

ACK- dental emergency
I didn't know that about the heparin.. no one at my surgeon's office said anything about that... well, I don't have the time to get it done beforehand... I guess I'll just have a molar with a corner broken off for a while

ACK- dental emergency
I'm due to be banded Friday, April 1st, and a tooth that was supposed to get a root canal just had a chunk break off ... there's no pain, since that molar was dead anyway. It's my own fault, I've been pushing off the procedure since my dental insurance covers so little and I've had so many other medical bills with the surgery coming up. Do I wait until after I've been banded? I'm pretty sure they'll just pull the tooth, since it's the last molar in my bottom jaw and they did the same with my other one. I had dry mouth for years due to meds and those back molars suffered because of it. Dh said call my surgeon's office and find out, and then the dentist. *sigh* do I really need all that right now? At least there's no pain.
