  1. I got banded Aug 12 so its been 8 days. I saw my Dr yesterday and he cleared me for a Martini this weekend. No more beer or other carbonated drinks but i don't have to give up my martinis or single malt scotch. Yes they are empty calories but i am losing so much weight already I am not going to punish myself and go without. Thank you Dr Madan!
  2. Hi, i am 58 yrs old. I got banded Aug 12 and just started eating mushy foods yesterday. I got to say I feel great. I am walking more and more each day. Other than that first night home where i had a hard time sleeping it gets better each day. I am dowm almost 20 lbs since surgery. So far the hardest thing was the pre-op diet with the clear liquids. This last week after banding i was on clear liquids but not the hunger pains i had on the pre-op diet. I love being full after so little to eat. I have to get used to eating slower and chewing more but i have not been nauseated at all. I go for my first adjustment Sep 29.
  3. The surgery was at 1:30pm yesterday and i got home at 7:00pm. I found it hard to sleep on my left side but I was ok sleeping on my right side. I woke up every couple of hours due to the discomfort. I have been taking some pain medication and that helps. I do not feel hungry and have to remind my self to drink clear broth every so often. I definetly could not go back to work today. I go back for a checkup tomorrow and then again in 6 weeks.
  4. Getting ready to leave for Beverly Hills to have Dr Madan do the surgery. I have to admit I am a little nervous. I think my nervousness has overshadowed my hunger pains. This pre-op diet has been the hardest thing I have ever done. If all goes well I hope to be home this evening and back to work on Monday. I will try and post after I get home.
  5. I first met Dr Madan last Oct in Santa Ana for a group session on lapband. After 9 months I finally got the ok from my insurance company for the surgery. Dr Madan is doing my surgery this Thu. Aug 12. I am starving and can't wait. Good to hear you had a good expirence. Dr Madan was very reassuring last Oct at the meeting and then again last month when I made the appointment. He called me on my cell and was very easy to talk to.
  6. yes, i was thinking a Thursday surgery date I would be recovered by Monday enough to go back to work. I know everyone is different but i would still like to hear how soon some of you were back to work. I am starving, can't wait for Thursday.
  7. by Dr. Madan in Beverly Hills. I know i will be off work Friday but is it reasonable to expect to be back at work on Monday? I have a desk job with very little physical activity. I would like to hear how soon some of you went back to work. Also, i am a social drinker and enjoy martinis and scotch. I am not a beer drinker so i have no problem with no beer. I was just wondering how soon some of you were able to enjoy a cocktail after being banded. Thanks octroy Yorba Linda, CA
  8. Hi everyone, I live in So Cal (Yorba Linda). After fighting with the insurance company since last Oct I have finally been approved to be banded. I am having it done on Aug 12. The last 10 days of this pre-surgery diet has been the hardest thing I have ever done releated to dieting. Question: I will continue a simular diet for the first 2 weeks after banding but I am assuming I won't feel starved like I do now. Is this an accurate statement?
