  1. Hi Matt, my saving grace has been a web site that counts your calorie intake, protein intake, etc. I use myfitnesspal.com but there are other programs out there that you might find to better suit you. After putting myself through the low,low calorie intake and not losing weight, I had to up my calories. I've lost about 45 pounds since June 2011. Good luck to you. Hope this is helpful.

    Tingling Sensation

Hi Novice, I had the same thing happen to me. I thought maybe I was sleeping wrong at first, but it continued. I finally took some extra iron besides my regular vitamin and that seemed to help me. You might want to ask your doctor before adding extra vitamins. Also, I'm from Moreno Valley, so we are sort of neighbors! Maybe it is from the smog?

    1st Lap Band Fill Yesterday!

I had my 1st fill yesterday too! My surgery date was 6/21. It's funny how people get fills on all kinds of different dates huh? I don't feel any restriction at all, but like you, I'm on liquids through today. I have 3cc's now in a 10 cc band. I agree with you on the being nervous about trying food tomorrow. I'll be checking to see if anyone gives you advice.
  4. Oops, that would be husband not a hasband. LOL

  5. Had my first fill yesterday and I'm on liquids and pureed for a few days...yum, pureed, I can't handle it at all, looked like dog food. Sorry for that comment for anyone that is in the pureed stage. My hasband makes the best protein shakes for me, he uses lots of ice and it is like a shake. I found out I have a 10cc band and I got 1cc yesterday and there was 2 cc's from surgery date. I don't feel restricked, but I have been so faithful to not eating things that aren't he...

  6. I had that same pain and I thought something terrible had happened. It hurt so badly at first I was going to run to the emergency room, but thought if it was gas pains I'd be so embarassed so I stayed sitting in one posiition until I could move some. It was still very sore and I went to my lap band dr and he said it was a pulled muscle or muscle spasm and if the pain continued to call my PCP. Well I waited a week, walking around with a pillow on my stomach because it felt better with more pressure on it. I called and made an appointment with my primary care doctor and 2 hours after I called him, the pain went away and hasn't returned. MY PCP said that everything else was fine with me, but you should always use your own pain guide as to what you need to do. Good luck to you.
  7. Hi, MsTheBandit. I have lost 17 pounds. I know a lot of that weight was water retention because my doctor has taken me off the water pills. I have been surprised at the weight loss, but I know I will hit the wall and stop losing and wonder why. I do use myfitnesspal.com to keep track of everything I have eaten. I also notice that with the hot weather, I will reach for the protein shake instead of lunch or dinner. Your weight will start dropping. We should only lose about a pound or two a week to be safe anyway I hear. Good luck to you. Email me anytime. Linda

  8. Had my surgery June 21, 2011. I think I am doing great. I feel good, can tell that the clothes that were so tight are now easy to get on and are getting loose. Haven't had my first fill yet, that is coming up in 3 days, so I'll see how I feel after that. I have amazed myself by how little food I can get by on, because I'm finally eating right. This is the best I have felt in a long time and I have just started my journey.

  9. Hi all from Moreno Valley, CA. Had my surgery on June 21st and I'm doing well. Have lost about 15 pounds since surgery, and 10 pounds since the end of April. I can tell the diff. in the way my clothes fit. Only problem I had was about 3 weeks after my surgery I got this terrible pain just below the port area. It was so bad I thought I'd have my husband take me to the hospital, but thought I'd be so embarassed if it was gas, I stayed home and cried. It bothered me for 2 days before I saw my lap band doctor and he said it was a muscle spasm or pulled muscle, and said it had nothing to do with my port. I went home and held a pillow to my stomach for a week, than made an appointment with my PCP , and 2 hours after I called their office, it went away! I have felt fine ever since. It did feel better if I wore something tight. Anyone else have this sort of pain? Also, I am at the point were I can eat solids, but find myself kind of afraid to. I have read that so many have had problems with being "stuck". Any food I have tried, I chew it so much there is nothing left to swallow! Good thing I love my protein shakes. Good luck to all those who have lost weight so far. Everyone I have encountered so far from this site have been wonderful about answering my questions. Thank you.
  10. I go in on the 21st. No liquid diet for me, but I'm going to only drink liquids on Monday anyway and today is a light eating and heavy water day. Good luck to all. We will all be so healthy, won't we! I'm so excited!
  11. Almost time! I'm go in for my pre-op testing on June 14th and was wondering if anyone was delayed because anything that came up in the pre-op testing? I am assuming (but you know what ASSUM Eing does) if anyone was delayed, due to say an infection, cold, etc, found in their pre-op testing, or was pre=op testing just signing paperwork. I'm freaking myself out before I even get there! Also, I know how important the monthly meetings are, is there anyone attending the Riverside Medical Group Meetings after surgery? Sure would be nice to meet a few more friends to know before hand.
  12. I'm getting banded on June 21st and was wondering if there are any others who are over 50 and have had the Lap Band process. My doctor said I didn't need to be on any special diet before my surgery, but I have been eating healthier anyway due to husbands heart problems. I know my road will be different from most due to leg nerve damage and back problems. Any tips anyone could pass on to me? I would love to hear from you. I'm excited and scared.
  13. It is exciting! I have no pre-op plan so far, but I go in for my blood work-up on the 14th and I'll have to see what they say then. Good luck to you.
  14. Sounds like you are doing great. I'm on high blood pressure meds also, I think about 20 years. I am required to stay over night in the hospital when I have to procedure done, but the doctor has everyone do that. I was planning on having the surgery earlier, but my husband went and had a heart attack, so I had to postpone it until June. He is doing great, but what a wake-up call. I have lost about 10 pounds since I have been cooking healthier for us both. Please keep me posted on how you are doing, okay. Thanks for the reply, makes me less nervous. Linda
  15. My date is June 21st. I live in So CA. Good luck to you and would love to hear how you are doing afterwards. I guess you can figure out my name is Linda.
