My doctor suggested the Lap-Band after I was diagnosed in December 2009 with type 2 diabetes. I went to a informational meeting on Jan 20th in Rochester Minnesota and that got the ball rolling. I have been heavy all my life and I figured if I want to live to see my only son get married and have children then I have to do something to help me get there. I started with aweight of 333 pounds in January and am currently at 313 pounds. i have had 5-6 visits with the dietician to fulfill the insurance company's requirements. I have stopped eating sweets and am currently trying yes trying to stop drinking Diet Pepsi. It's been tough but I'm down to two per day from about 8. My current problem is that the anestesiologist is having issues with me and my lungs as I had polio when I was young and I also had two pulminary embolisms after surgery on my ankle years back. I also have sleep apnea but am not using the PPAP machine because I can't tolerate it. Well anyway I am crossing my fingers that the surgery will take place soon and everything will be ok. I need a new life or at least a chace at one.
