  1. CONGRATULATIONS Monica, Kelly, and Lap2Fab!!! And to everyone else. Keep up the great work. Just a quick check in since I am at work but I wanted to thank everyone for the words of encouragement. So far, I have woken up at 6am 3 times this week to run 1-2 miles. And this week I have lost 3 pounds! I'm regaining my focus and it feels FABULOUS! I almost had forgotten how great healthy eating and excercis can make you feel. Sending well wishes and positivity everyone's way .... we've got this!
  2. CONFESSIONAL: 9 months since surgery. Starting weight 223lb (yes not that much, but heaviest ive ever been). Lowest weight 202lb. Current weight 208lb. I'm struggling ... physically, mentally, and emotionally ... with this band. I thought I was prepared, but I'm realizing I never fully prepared myself the way I should have about the band. It was all about losing the weight ... and now I've slipped back into old, unhealthy eating habits. Sweets (my favorite) are probably one of the easiest things to go through the band. I can't believe that we're rounding out our one year surgiversary and all of you have done so FABULOUSLY (kudos and im so proud of all of you). But I feel like incredibly left behind to no fault but my own. I could kick myself for it!!! I've lost hardly ANY weight! Now more than ever, its not just about the weight. Its about my health. I want to be healthy and learn how not to destroy the beautiful body that was given to me. I want to show my Dad that losing weight and being healthy to avoid a family history of Diabetes IS possible. Where do I even start now? Another fill? Thanks for hearing me out ... I wanted to get everything off my chest. Hopefully its the first step to my "band recovery".
  3. I'm having it next Wednesday, but I'm so scared. Has anyone else gotten the SILS done? Mine will be done through my belly button and its freaking me out.

    Sick of the liquid diet

What solids are you adding in? I was banded the same day but am supposed to stay on liquids for 14 days ... meaning no food (not even mushies) until next Monday! (That thought makes me want to cry). Anyways, I'm healing well and I'm handling all my thick liquids really well so I want to start trying mushies (slowly of course). I still dont have an appetite, so I'd be having just a few bits of soft food, not enough to hurt. Let me know which work for you & congrats for moving on in your diet phase! lol

    Can't laugh

Hang in there! I'm 5 days post op and can finally get a semi decent laugh in without doubling over or losing my breath. Last night turned into family fun night -- and with a family as crazy as mine, I felt like my stomach was going to explode. Laughing is almost unavoidable, especially since you usually laugh twice as hard if you're trying not to laugh at all. Pleasure pains!! They'll go away soon. Until then you could hang around some boring people :)
  8. I had my surgery on the ninth and have lost 12 so far. I thought it was weird too. I think it's just Water weight. I know I need to be eating more but havent really had the appetite yet. I'm preparing myself for the numbers to start slowing down when I move onto the mushy foods stage, but I'm enjoying my weigh-ins while it lasts
  9. I literally get nauseous when I think of or smell a Protein shake. I'm 5 days in post-op and have 10 more to go until I can move on the the full liquids phase. Is there a protein pill or something that I can drop in a normal drink or Water? I know it sounds crazy but I'd rather drink water all day and know I'm getting the right nutrients than to drink another Protein Shake -- yuckkkk. Thanks everyone! Loving August rush and all of your help!
  10. Thanks! I'm definitely going to pick up a different gas relief medicine. I can't wait for sugar free sorbet and some chocolate protein drinks. I'm on clear liquids for 14 days!!! Then onto full liquids for another 15 days before moving to solids. I cant believe I won't be eating a solid anything until September 9th -- so sad. haha! I'm definitely going to have salmon ... my dad made this stuffed salmon last night that had me craving!
  11. Hi everyone! I'm joining August Rush  I was banded on Monday. So far, feeling a lot better but still incredibly sore around my belly button. chicken broth was absolutely amazing for about a day and already I'm bored. Looking to move onto better Soups. Gas is still killing me ... gas x strips (after 2 boxes in 2 days -- bad i know) is not helping any longer. can we take tums? Another Question: anyone do any sugar free frozen yogurt or sorbet? Is chocolate flavor off limits? Nice to join the August-ers!!

    Lap Band Buddy

I'm back!!! Thanks for your well wishes. The surgery went went. I'm just excited now to drink something besides crushed ice. Definitely going through the soreness and gas pains that you guys are talking about -- how long does it take for those to go away? I'm freaked out because I start classes on Monday and I hope I'm not miserable. What kind of Protein shakes are yall drinking? whey?

    Lap Band Buddy

Hey Ladies! I'm 22 and getting banded ... tomorrow!! My excitement right now is to mask my semi-anxiousness, haha. Anyways, you all seem like you're doing great since surgery so I wanted to say congratulations and hey. Hopefully I can keep motivated with yall. Any updates? p.s. Just realized that my last food for at least a month was a pretty indecent piece of salmon. Not a perfect last meal but I'll take it ... after all, tomorrow starts an amazing journey
