June 2007 Bandsters
I've been doing find from my port revision, (no bruising)--UNTIL TODAY!!! I called the doctor, but he said it's nothing to worry about. lo2us--I have wanted to join a support group since I got banded. I forget why I missed the June date and I had my port flipped back in July, so I will attend the August meeting next week (Lord, willing...and the creek don't rise)...I'm not sure who leads it or what the topic will be, but I'll let you know.

Looking for Doctor around Dallas, Texas
I went through AIGB--American Institute of Gastric Banding. They are in Richardson, which is a suburb of Dallas. 214-389-7430. They DID ALL OF THE INSURANCE WORK FOR ME!!!! All that I did was show up for the appointment. My insurance required 5 yrs of medical history. It can be from any doctor. As a matter of fact, I only had 4 consecutive years from my PCP, so I got the 5th year from my OBGYN and it was accepted. My doctor is Dr. Richard Benevides. 972-331-8100. He's GREAT!!!

Dan---I'm not in pain...I can't believe it!!! Every now and then I feel a twinge of pain (more soreness than pain) where the doctor went back in through the incision. As far as I know, the insurance is paying for it. No one has mentioned money to me, SO I'M NOT MENTIONING IT TO THEM!!!!

I had my port repositioning procedure today and it went well. I thought it would be done locally, but I was under.:notagree It took approximately 20 minutes. I only have pain in the incision. The doctor went back through the same scar. I am on clear liquids for 3 days and back to solid foods. Got a small fill also!! Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers!!!

Flipped Port
Thanks for your prayers and thoughts. I have an appointment this Thursday at 7:00 a.m to have my port put back in position. The nurse said that it would be performed with an IV. I won't be knocked out unless it's necessary. Keep praying...I'll post again on Thursday afternoon and let you know all of the details.

Flipped Port
I went in today for my 2nd fill and couldn't get it:angry My port has flipped. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. I can't imagine what I did to cause it to flip. Has anyone experienced a flipped port? How was it corrected? Were you put to sleep or was it done with local anestesia? (sp?) Is it alright to continue to exercise with a flipped port?

Getting Enough Water
I was banded on June 18th and can now drink (not sip) Water. I don't like water, so I drink Crystal Light. My schedule is Breakfast, 2 16oz bottles of water, lunch, 1 16 oz bottle of water, dinner/exercise 1 16 oz bottles of water. this allows me to get 64 oz and keeps me full between meals.

Any Junk Food Junkies care go join me?
I love sweets too---too much to give them up---so i can't join you. I have found that peach tea crystal light satisfies my needs for sweets and cinnamon applesauce-----If I want a cookie--I'll eat a portion of it (hopefully) PRAY FOR ME!!!

NINA----TONI-----WHERE ARE YOU???????? IF YOU'RE READING...DROP US A LINE.....I MISS ALL OF YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT!!!- June 2007 Bandsters
Hey all, I found this fabulous website yesterday - Recipezaar: Where the World's Recipes Are - It is too cool. You can search for anything. I put in 'low fat, high protein' in the search bar and got thousands of good, easy recipes. I'm not big on cooking, so I made my search even more focused by saying that I wanted low fat, high protein, crock pot recipes, still got over 3,000! It give the nutritional info for each recipe too. Suzzie--thanks for the recipe site---I'm not much of a cook either, but maybe I'll try. I CAN cook, but don't particularly enjoy it. I can eat leftovers forever...so I figure if I make a recipe from this site, and my band is really working--I can cut the grocery bill by eating the same thing for a couple of days:):cry:hungry:...Let me know what you have tried and how it turns out.- June 2007 Bandsters
I was told not to take ibuprofen because it thins the lining of your stomach. My doctor suggested liquid tylenol or advil. I'm an ibuprofen junkie--for any pain.- foaming saliva????
I've read where people "slime" because food gets stuck. I'm not having that problem. I have noticed that I have additional saliva--that seems "foamy". Has anyone else experienced this and can you shed some light on what's happening?:cry Thanx- June 2007 Bandsters
Suzzie---try benefiber powder for more fiber. It's taseless and you can sprinkle it on your food or in beverage. It disolves smoothly with no lumps.- June 2007 Bandsters
LADIES AND GENTS!!!! Would you please check out my exercise ticker?????????? I officially exceeded my July challenge. I set a challenge to walk 3 times a week for 30 minutes. I have found a good walking partner and a good place to walk. Once around is 2 miles (usually takes 40 minutes)---yes I know that's a long time, but some slow exercise is better than no exercise!! Today we actually went around 2 times ---YEP I SAID IT---4 MILES FOR ME!!! (THE ONE WHO HATES EXERCISE!!!)- June 2007 Bandsters
some wrote about constipation....I spoke with my patient educator yesterday and she suggested Benifiber....She said that you could sprinkle it on your food for more fiber. I haven't tried it yet.Has anyone? - June 2007 Bandsters
