  1. Just in case others have the same question or concern, here is what happened in my case. I was admitted the day before surgery and Hephrin drip started. This IV was used throughout my stay at the hospital (5 days) until my Coumadin/Warfarin #'s were regulated. I could have went home on day four but was kept as a precaution. From what I understand, the Hephrin can be turned off 30 minutes before surgery and started afterward where the Coumadin had to be stopped four days prior to surgery and weaned back in. Hephrin (fast acting) and Coumadin (long acting, stays in system). Surgery went well for my Lap Band. I experienced a lot of shoulder pain from the gas and the first week was a lot harder than I expected but I am older (51). I was glad that I was in the hospital for that week due to the pain involved while I adjusted to the new me. I was back to work the following week although I did not stay a full day for a few days but day by day, I did better, felt better, etc. I am loving the results and would definitely do this again. Hope this helps to all others on Coumadin.

Insurance requirement for all and even though it was inconvenient to go see my family doctor once every six months plus attend other meetings (nutritionist, behavioral counselor, etc.), I am glad I did it. Not only to meet the requirements but to prove to myself that I was serious and set a goal and going forward with this surgery. I did it!!! November 29th. I did not lose any weight while in those 6-month visits although I did try but it was when I started my 10-day liquid diet before surgery, which was also a requirement, is when I lost 8.5 pounds I believe. Pretty awesome. The need to lose before surgery is to shrink the liver as it lies above the stomach and hopefully prevents any damage when they are placing the lap band. Hope each of you are doing well and seeing great results with your lap band. It's a new year, it's a new me! Happy New Year
  3. I take Coumadin and plan to have the LAP-BAND® soon. Was informed that instead of a overnight stay, I would have to stay 3-5 days. Discouraged somewhat. Anyone else experience this?
  4. That is awesome. Congrats! I signed my consent forms and all appointments are done for me so I am hoping that insurance approves everything and I get a date during Thanksgiving week, due to time off work and vacation time. If not, my Plan B is during Christmas week. Are you more excited than scared? It is a new journey and I am so ready, too. Wish you the best.
