  1. As of right now, and this could change of course as the election draws near and candidates start getting culled out.....I think I'd have to go with Hillary. It may be an unpopular choice with a lot of people but I agree with Carlene...Hillary is a conservative Democrat and she is smart and I honestly feel she would do what was good for the people of this country and not what was good for her party. It seems so many are wanting to do what is good for the party anymore. Besides, I was a big Bill fan and would get a kick out of Bill being the "First Man". LOL. But then I think that if Al Gore was to all of a sudden be thrust into this thing...who knows. Hell, I wish I could run! But then I don't think a lot of countries who we cater to and pamper would appreciate me. Just my thoughts.............
  2. I think the RNY'ers are just jealous of us Bandsters! Think about it, we didn't have to get all cut up so our surgery was much less invasive and a much faster healing time. We lose weight just like the RNY'ers but we lose more slowly. I believe there are big benefits to losing slowly. Take a look at most of the RNY folks...A lot of them look sick. So we all chose what method was best for us. For me it was the lap band. I've already said it in an earlier post but I would SO DO IT AGAIN!!! And thanks to my lap band I've met some of the coolest people there are! The folks here at LBT................ Jimboss
  3. WOW! Down 210 lbs! That is absolutely fantastic! Great job Jackal! You are an inspiration to me for sure! Jimboss
  4. I believe that my WLS has only allowed me to lose weight. As far as my relationship with my lovely bride of over 30 years, it hasn't affected it other than nice comments I get from her. I did notice that there were at least three votes which involved the "open marriage" and "outside dating". I'd be interested in hearing comments from those gentlemen or ladies.
  5. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat! Libra hit the nail on the head...like her it was the best decision I have ever made! Other than marrying the love of my life of course.....but that falls into a different category! Hugs.......Jimboss
  6. I was banded in October 2006 and my wife has been wanting to get the band now that she see's my progress. Her problem is that her BMI is 37 and her insurance company needs a 40 or better to approve. She is thinking about gaining in order to meet the BMI of 40 but that concerns me.
  7. I should have clarified earlier....sorry. They took my weight provided by my physician at the beginning and then again what my weight was (also provided by my physician) after a year.
  8. If I had lost enough to put me under a BMI of 40, I would have been S.O.L. I didn't gain but then I didn't lose either. It was a pain in the ass year but today when I look back, it was worth it.
  9. My surgeon and I were talking about this very same thing on the 13th when I got a fill. I asked him about folks who were banded in Mexico seeking fills here. He told me he has done it. Dr Bradley Thaemert in Sioux Falls is who I see.
  10. My insurance company made me be on a supervised diet for one year prior to my surgery. As far as supervised goes.........all I had to do was email them my food diary 3 times a week as well as an exercise log. There was never any checking me out or weighing in at all. The stipulation was I couldn't gain weight. If I lost any, fine. But if I gained I was disqualified for the surgery. Personally I thought it was a whole big bunch of BS but then if I wanted the surgery, I had to play the game.
  11. Geez.........I started losing my hair before I got banded! Am I in trouble or what!?!?!
  12. Hell, I'm just a dumb old country boy but why cross your legs?
  13. Well Wheetsin...........I reckon those are some good questions to seriously ponder. And your answers are?
  14. Well AuntDot, I'd like to wish you luck on your banding procedure. You are right...you'll find a lot of helpful advice here and also find that this is a great web site to find the support we all need! I would like to let you know that I too am diabetic. I was banded in October of 2006 and I've lost close to 50 pounds so far, which is great...but as far as my diabetes? Hmmmmm. I've gone from using over 200 units of insulin daily to using less than 60 units. I found that once I started to exercise that my insulin useage really started to drop drastically. Exercise sucked when I first started but now I seem hooked on it! Initially I could do only 3 minutes on a treadmill. Today I'm here to tell you that I consistently do 30-35 minutes and I can still breathe when I done! So again, good luck and I'm sure you find like most of us that this is going to be the best decision you've ever made in your life. Best Wishes..........Jimboss
  15. Damn girls..........I guess when I woke up in the recovery room and seen my nurse (sigh) I was wishing for it at that moment. But then....I am a guy. Whew!
