Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome ...
Not to go all Jessica Simpson on you, but.... A friend of mine used proactive for her acne and it really worked. It wasn't real bad though. it might be worth a try.

Here's to 2007!!
Glad to hear you are doing so well! Low carb isn't bad. Just be thankful he didn't make you do optifast! Yikes! Hopefully you'll have a date soon. It will definately help you stay focused. I get my band in a few days. I am really excited, yet a tad aprehensive, which is expected I guess. I know I am making the right decision, and am fortunate that I am able to do this at a younger age and hopefully reduce the chances of developing the co-morbidities that my older relatives have.

January Bandsters???
Well, I made it half way (day five of 10) thorugh my pre op diet. It hasn't been bad at all, since I just have to eat low carb. I've already lost 2.5 lbs too! I paid for my surgery yesterday, too. It all seems very real now. Just a few more days....

Medic Alert ID or not?
Thanks all! I meant to post this question and forgot! I will be getting one, just for the peace of mind. For those of you that posted what you have engraved on your bracelet, did you use standard lapband text from a reliable source, or just go by what your research has told you regarding the lapband? I just want to make sure that I have the most accurate, up to date info on my bracelet. Thanks!

Hey Kristin! What size band did you end up getting?? How much of a fill did you get?? How's life with the band treating you? Is it just weird to know that you have it inside you??

Casa Bonita - ole!
So you wouldn't recommend it for a "Dr. K's LapBand reunion party"?? Tee hee.. Thanks for the info! I am sure we'll just go to get pictures or something. We have to make a few of our friends jealous....

RE-USE of the FILL NEEDLE
I am totally against using the same needle, yuck... however, The information on this link says nothing about the risk of infection when using the same needle. It looks like they are just making a case for you to buy more BD needles! "BD's thin, fine, high quality needles are designed to be used one time only"

Casa Bonita - ole!
Hi there! I will be in Denver for a few days before my lap band surgery, so we need something to do. Now, I know there is a ton of things to do in Denver, but.... My husband and I are huge fans of the cartoon South Park. There is an episode where Cartman locks Butters in a fallout shelter so he can take Butters' place when the group goes to Casa Bonita for Kyle's birthday party. Anyway, it's a really funny episode, and ever since we saw it we always exclaim "Casa Bonita - ole!!!" anytime we are going to a Mexican restaurant. (I know, I know, my husband and I are a little weird) Well, I can't explain to you the excitement in my husband's eyes when I told him that Casa Bonita is a real place and it's in Denver. Needless to say we HAVE to go there while we are there... pre - op diet or not**!! Now, I used to live in Orlando and I know how the locals just hate those tourist trappy things, but please... Is it just a crazy tourist trap?? Is the food any good? Can you tell me how far it is from Aurora - where my Dr. is? Do you need reservations? Will it be busy on a Tuesday or Wednesday for lunch? Can I take my 14 month old there?? Tooooo Funny, but any information would be much appreciated!! ***btw.... I DO NOT really plan on going off my pre-op diet and potentially blowing my chance at surgery with a pig out at Casa Bonita. I was just being funny. I am sure there is enough Protein there to keep me entertained, and I am confident I will stay away from chips and salsa.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Hi all! I made it through day two of the pre-op diet. Woo hoo! I ended up going to lunch with a new co-worker of mine. She ordered a sub (a healthy one at that) and I got Soup - no noodles. =) She commented " sure, get soup and make me look like a pig." tee hee. So she wouldn't feel bad, I broke down and told her why I was just eating soup. She was very supportive, which was cool. She's heading off to a new job next week, and I am subbing for her until the new person comes, so I didn't feel like I had to keep it a secret from her. Hopefully she doesn't tell the others why I am "on vacation in Denver"

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Yep, it's a desk job. That and I don't have far to walk from the parking garage, so I should be alright. Thanks for letting me know that you only took a few days off too! So, how did your fill go? I see that you had lunch with DrewsLou. That's awesome!

So - what's your status?
I have been happily married for 2 years and 4 months. My man is the best! We truly are soulmates.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Thanks! Yes, I do feel like the ball is finally rolling! I did real well today on my first day of pre op... nothing for Breakfast (I got up late.. ugh) a salad for lunch and scrambled eggs with ham for dinner. I just had an apple for some Fiber. Hopefully it's not too high in carbs! As for the job, I am in IT in the employee benefits field. I did this for a few years before I had my baby. I was getting bored at home so I decided to go back to work. So far it's been going well. They knew that I would need some time off for surgery before I took the job. I have to go back to work only 5 days after being banded though, so I hope I am a quick healer!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Hey Sunnysea! Thanks for letting me know re: NEW Surgical Associates. Everything happens for a reason. They weren't the place for you. Maybe Dr. Kirshenbaum is! =o) I will keep you posted on my journey. Hopefully we can continue to help each other out. I live near Wausau. I have been to Marinette/Menomonee a few times though, (we go camping in the UP once a year) so I know where you're at!

Here's to 2007!!
Hi Bill, Thanks for asking! Things are going great! I started my Pre-op diet today. I just have to do low carb for 10 days. So far, so good. I am really starting to get excited. Don't get me wrong, I've had my "what the heck am I doing?" moments, but when I saw my before pictures that my hubby took for me yesterday....yikes...I am glad I am getting this done!! How are things goin' with you???

Severe Pain
So you called your surgeon who put the band in and he told you to go to the ER. There, the ER doctor ordered the tests, etc and sent you home with Vicoden? You were not seen by your or a lap band surgeon, but a regular ER Dr.? Have you talked to your Lap Band Surgeon again? Has he examined your port?

Secret? Yes or No.
My husband, my sis and two close friends know. That's it. I have not told my father or grandma (gram's a little senile at this point, not sure she'd remember) My dad's always been on me about my weight. Even yesterday when I talked to him he was complaining about how tired he got hanging sheetrock in his brother's garage, and that's what happens when you sit around all day (meaning... since YOU sit around all day -which I don't - I have got to be really out of shape) Well dad, I'm sorry I am not 16 anymore and you can't force me to play organized sports for exercise! (no, I'm not bitter.. tee hee) No, I won't be telling him anytime soon. I am sure I'll let our friends know after they wonder why I am losing weight and eating like a bird. I won't tell work. I just don't like to share personal things with co-workers. I didn't even tell them I was preggers until I had to. If I wouldn't of had to tell them - for coverage reason's etc.- I wouldn't have. The worst part has been lying to people when they ask WHY we are going to Denver?? in the winter, considering the weather lately... ugh.

January Bandsters???
Too Funny! No, you do not suck. You are doing very well. I really don't think a bite of pizza and a choclate chip cookie is going to affect you much, if at all.

January Bandsters???
Ha! That's funny! Oh well, at least you got all that out of your system. Now you can enjoy bandland peacefully! :biggrin1:
