  1. ??Same for gum?? it upsets your stomach too or causes too much air???
  2. I've been using a straw for at least 15 years now and this was almost a deal-breaker for me..... just kidding but I was like "oh no, you're kidding, right???" What I did was buy a water bottle at walmart with the slide-up sippy top on it. I think I will be ok with one of those. For some reason anytime I try to drink anything withOUT a straw, I spill. Does anyone have any other ideas or is this something I will probably just have to get used to as well because my Dr. and nurse and everyone has told me NO STRAWS.
  3. Stay on top of this stuff RiahRiah !!! I have been crossing my fingers and "warding off" anyone with any kind of sniffles or anything so I don't have to reschedule surgery also. My day is the day after yours!!!
  4. I keep hoping that yes, by this time next year, I will not only be celebrating a one year band anniversary and a 6 year no-smoking anniversary, but WEARING A BIKINI too!!! LOL.....WELL ONE CAN HAVE DREAMS.
  5. Every insurance company is different. My guess is that you will have problems getting them to cover it since you're bmi is pretty low compared to a lot of the rest of us. But don't give up, fight, fight, fight. Make sure your physician writes plenty of STRONG and STERN letters to your insurance company explaining why this surgery is beneficial to your health and necessary. Good luck and I'm hoping for the best for you!
  6. It's soooo reassuring to hear all the positive things so far. Maybe August is our lucky month! I barely got in... my surgery is the 31st. And then the next day (Sept 1st) is my 5 year anniversary to stop smoking!!!! Yeah Me!!! Well good luck to EVERYONE here! Keep us posted how things are going.
  7. I just got scheduled yesterday for August 31st, so therefore had to start my preop diet today. My Dr. requires MediFast for replacement of 2 meals, then eat 1 sensible meal. They also told me I could blend the MediFast with fruit and ice cubes to make a smoothie, which I did. Surprisingly enough I haven't been too hungry but I'm sure looking forward to real food at supper. They never said anything about any other restrictions. I hope I'm doing this right.....:smile2:
  8. I just had a consultation with Dr. Hung last Friday and I really liked him. Everything I have read about him and Surgical Associates is positive. Have either of you been banded yet? I really want to get it done. I have the pulmonary consult, dietician, and psych consults all scheduled within the next 2 weeks.
  9. Best of luck to everyone getting banded tomorrow!
