    Time off work

How much time did you guys take off work? I am taking 10 days off so I can be onto soft foods by the time I go back. I am the lead trainer for the cheesecake factory so I am on my feet for hours straight. So I am a little nervous to go back as it is. But whet is really stressing me out is it's the last 10 days of the month, so its going to be tight coming up with rent this month! I wonder if I will feel up to going back sooner?
  2. I'm so excited for surgery but starting to get nervous too. What should I expect??

    Time off work

Yeah I have to carry plates and trays that are actually really heavy! I will probably have to work shorter shifts, but the GM is the only one who knows. I really didnt want to tell the staff and even some of the managers, but I will probably end up having to in case something happens or I get sick.

Yeah the whole procedure is tax deductible. I paid 10,290. With no additional costs either! The fills are free for life. The only new cost are the vitamins I need to get. But they also told me about companies that do surgical financing and its pretty easy to get approved.

    5 more days...

In the middle of April I decided to look into the lap band farther. My mom and i have talked about it before, but it never felt like it was something that I could actually do. I ended up going to a seminar on April 15th at Sky Ridge to see if it was something that was within my reach. I met Dr. Chae and the more i learned about it, the more I really wanted it. Two weeks later I had my consultation appointment and he said I qualify for the surgery and he would really love to do it for me. Then as you ass know... insurance!? They did all the work for me, which was great, but I found out that I was approved, but it would be more expensive out of pocket than if I just paid for it. Well I'm 26 years old! I don't have any money! But my mom and grandma said they would pay for it! How amazing is that. They said I really deserve it and I have done so much for the family that they really wanted to do this for me. Two days later I was in the nutrition class and now I'm scheduled for surgery on Monday the 24th!! I'm so excited but as it gets closer I'm getting nervous. Not about the surgery, but about what to expect after. Some insight into what to expect would be great. There's only so much I can hear from the doctor before I really want to hear it from people that have had it. Please help!

I'm so glad to hear you aren't hungry. I have read so many things about people saying that they are hungry so it makes me a little nervous. But this isn't supposed to take away hunger all together, just makes you hungry like a normal person and prevent snacking. If I get hungry every 5 or so hours than thats fine cause I can eat my little meal and be done with it...like normal people lol. The controlling of the portions is whats really going to help me too! How much weight have you lost so far? Thats another thing i'm curious about is how much will come off right away. I am going into this totally positive and that this is going to change my life for good! If I have that attitude this will work! I have my last pre-op appt tomorrow with my surgeon just to ask questions I have a whole list of them lol! 4 more days...

    Here's what I won't miss...

So as you know I went out for my last drink tonight before my Monday surgery. They had bingo at the bar so we stayed and played. After one of the games two people had won. We were outside when the guy who ran bingo came out and told this guy (one of the winners) that he had to either flip or draw high card for the prize. He said he would flip for it and so the bingo runner went in to tell the girl what he had decided. A couple minutes later he came back out and told the guy winner that she wanted to arm wrestle for it. The group of guys just laughed it off and said "oh yeah LOL" until the girl walked outside. She was a bigger girl and when the group of guys saw her they all started laughing saying hell no and making fun of her. It really sucks to feel like people are looking at you and laughing like that. They ended up flipping a coin and the girl won. She went back in and they continued to laugh and joke about her. You all know those guys! I can't wait to be on the other side of that joke knowing it's not funny!

    Any June Bandsters???

Well I am actually an end of may bandster. 4 more days! May 24th. All the may people I've talked to are like 3 days out from surgery. I'm so close but these last 2 weeks have felt like the longest in my life! I am so excited but getting really nervous too. Not about the surgery at all but the after...Whats gonna happen? Am I going to be hungry? Everything! I need a band buddy LOL. So if anyone wants to team up with me it would be awesome and I can help you to and let you know what to expect as well!

I am so grateful that my mom and grandma are paying for it for me! We are getting the discount for self pay. I did get approved through insurance but it ended up cheaper this way. From what you all are saying there are so many hoops to jump through if you are going through insurance. I only had to go to a nutrition class and that was just education my surgeon wanted me to have. I've heard of 6 month diets prior and a number of psych consults and just waiting. My surgery date is a month and half out from when I decided I wanted it! That's so sad you don't have your mom with you but it's great you get to do something for you! Good Luck! June you say?

I'm really not nervous about the surgery part of it. I've had a few surgeries so they are pretty routine now. I am worried about after. Are u hungry at all? That's what my mom is worried about. She thinks it will be really easy for me as long as I'm not hungry. The few people I have told have been really great about it and really excited for me but my hesitation in telling people is that when I start to lose weight they wont think its "real" because I had surgery. People dont understand how hard it actually is. Its hard enough without all the judgment.
  12. I'm a little worried about that stage too LOL. Are u hungry at all?

Yeah this is my first day on the site too. I haven't told many people that I am doing this so it really limits the people I can talk to about it. I have found it really helpful and its nice to find a new group of people that knows what I'm going through.
  14. Yay! I'm scheduled for surgery on the 24th too! I'm starting to get really nervous about it all but sooo excited too! How are you dealing with all of this?
