  4. Well, I just got off the phone with the telephone coaching program. The woman was very nice and I have to talk on the phone with her once a week for 6 months. She is going to send a cook book, journals, excercise tapes, nutrition bars,ect.. and I need to track myself on their website so she can see my progress. She is also going to send a bunch of info about the lapband and info about how to get emotionally and physically ready for the surgery...So it actually sounds pretty good.
  5. Yes, I am starting the Ins demanding, six month "telephone coaching program" tomorrow. I can let you know how my first appt went if you would like BTW I have Pacificare HMO
  6. I am really excited because tomorrow night I start the six month diet program that my Ins Co insisted that I do before surgery. I have no idea how this will help me because it's a telephone coaching program:confused:(has anyone ever had to do this type of six month program on the phone before?) I need to stay by my phone for the 6:30 appt time. Oh well, if this is to detere me and make me wait, I can play that game. I hope to get some advice on healthy eating and excercise but I don't think it will help me loose my 120 excess pounds as much as the band will. It's count down time for me!!Yaaaayy!!!:biggrin1: I am sooo excited!! Hopefully I will be a June/July 2007 Bandster!!!
  7. Has anyone ever heard or know Dr. Bengt Pehrsson? He is in Arcadia and Anaheim both in Southern Cailf. If I do get approved after my 6 month "diet program" My ins will assign this surgeon to me for the lapband. Lets hear some rave reviews on this surgeon!!LOL!! Please??:clap2: Thanks again for all of the wonderful advice and info from the members. You guys are so inspirational and have helped me so much through this learning phase of being a pre-bander:) Hopefilly a full fleged bandee in May or June 2007...What a great year that will be!!:biggrin1: Janie
  8. Hi!! Has anyone ever had to go through the six month diet program called "Healthy Roads" before they were accepted by Ins? I am told that I have to go through this step and I am wondering what the program is like?
  9. Thanks so much for the reply:) You were denied even after you went through the 6 month program? Why? If I may ask? Did you happen to have Pacificare HMO?
  10. Hi there. Well I got denied today for the lap band:( . My Ins wants me to go through a 6 month "telephone coaching" weight loss program. Has anyone ever had to do this 6 month thingy? I know in my heart that this will not work for me but I will give it a try. I hate to have to wait 6 months..I am sooo ready now!!
  11. You don't sound mean but you both don't sound very happy. How about going to marriage counseling with her. It might help with communication better and help to better your relationship. Good luck to you and your wife. You sound like you really care alot for her otherwise you would'nt have written your post.
  12. I am hoping my Ins will cover the band surgery and I have a question. I was wondering if arthritis in my neck at the age of 41 constitutes a co-morbidity. I also have the usual, sleep apnea and high cholesterol at 310 and high BP and pre diabetes. And with all of my health issues I wonder if they will still make me go through a 6 month supervised diet? I could die in 6 months!!:drama: My Ins is Pacificare HMO through Northridge IPA in Calif. I could never afford the surgery and have lousy credit, so the Ins is my only option. What do you all think my chances are? BMI of 40 Thanks for any replys. This surgery is all I can think about!!
  13. I went back to my PCP today. I found out that he didn't even put my referral through to the Ins:( . He put me on Vytorin to help lower my cholesterol and when I was leaving I had to explaine to the medical assistant what a lap band is so she could better understand what to do as far as sending out a referral. The front office staff looked at me like I was from Mars when I told them about the Lap Band. So..I am guessing that this will be a new experience for them as well as me. I wonder how long it will take until I hear anything.
  14. L8BloomeR, May I ask about the 6 months diet program that they almost made you go on? I have Pacificare HMO and I think they are going to put me on something called "Healthy Roads"for 6 months. Have you heard of this? What is it? I am so excited to start this process, but everything is going so slow already. I just want my band!!!WaaaaaLOL!!! Waiting is not a forte of mine..hehe
  15. Hi Mary 3726, My dad lives in Conroe Texas!! I love it there. Good luck with your weight loss journey:)
  16. Thank You Chrissy "O" and FullofGrace. That's just what I want also. To get my life back and start living again. You gals and few guys are a real inspiration and I am so happy for all of you
  17. Wow!! Ms Khris, you sound like you are on your way!! Congradulations:clap2: And thank you for the positive news about Pacificare. I am expecting that they will want me to go on a 6 month supervised diet plan called "Healthy Roads". I will try that first...but I know in my heart, the band is exactally what I need. Thanks for the reply:)
  18. Thank you both for the welcome:) and the words of encouragement. I have been thinking about this surgery for about three years now and finally got the nerve to ask my doctor. But you are right, if Ins will not pay, I will find a way. I'll beg steal or borrow...anything to be able to be healthy again. There are alot of amazing people on this forum and the info is priceless. Thank goodness I found you guys:)
  19. This may sound like a silly question but, can people actually feel the band while touching or pressing down on your stomach? Janiee:)
  20. Hi there everyone. Just a little note to say hello and I got my chol results which were 310 and pre diabetes and a BMI of 40, so my doctor said that gastric surgery might be an option for me. Only problem is that my Ins may give me a problem(Pacificare HMO) Wish me luck!!:nervous Janiee:)
