  1. Hi All November Bandsters! I had my procedure last night at 7:00 and am happy to report that I am home and doing very well. I was discharged at 9:00 this morning and walked home from the hospital (it's only 2 blocks away). The only pain I have is from the gas build up. I feel some pressure on the upper part of my stomache - but it's getting better with every hour that passes. I ahve also been taking some Gas X for the gas. I pretty much slept all day but I also managed to do some work from home. I think the surgery was flawless and I am thrilled. I will follow up with my appointment next week. Best to everyone! Anyone who is waiting for their banding, I know it can be stressful - just hold on and remember that you are doing this to be the healthiest you you can be!! Warmest regards, Maureen Age: 38 Weight at consultation: 245 Weight day of surgery: 238 Banded 11.06.06 Dr. Ren / NYU Medical
  2. Thanks pebbles & denise! I appreciate the support. I will let you know how it goes... I'm glad to hear that your jitters went away on that you are feeling good - and 9 lbs down - that's GREAT! maureen
  3. I am getting banded TODAY!!! My appointment is toady at 2:30 with Dr.Ren at NYU medical. I am really nervous - I guess that's normal. Well, I look forward to hearing about eveyones progress - and I will post my post surgery experience later this week. Best, maureen
  4. Hi Everyone! I am scheduled for my banding tomorrow at 2:30 by Dr.Ren at NYU Medical. I Have to say that I am nervous and excited at the same time. I feel more nervous than excited most of the time. Did anyone ever feel overwhelmed right before the surgery? I would love and appreciate anyones story on how they felt just 24 hrs before surgery - and how they felt (mentally) afterwards... Many Thanks! Maureen
  5. hi girlin nyc! you are so nice! thanks for thinking of me on sunday - that would be nice as i have not told anyone except my boyfriend and my business partner. it's hard not having alot of people who know because it would be nice to talk about. i just feel it's so private for me and to be honest, i can do without the judement. i know that our friends and family are not suppose to be that way, but i feel that some are and if i tell one i need to tell them all - not into it!! anyway, i am a partner in a design studio so i work for myself - it made everything really easy - scheduling and stuff! my business partner, who is also one of my closest friends has been taking care of our insurance since we started the company 6 years ago. she is so on top of stuff that i had no problems with the insurance - we have oxford. I will probably work from home for the week - i'm trying to wrap all my work odds and ends by tomorrow. i have never had any surgery and i'm totally freaking out. the freak out comes and goes - it's strange!! well, let me know how the nutritionist appt goes. they are all really nice! thanks again for the kind words and support!! maureen
  6. I know that feeling of just wanting the date to get here! Before I had my date I was really trying to eat all the foods I thought I would not be able to enjoy again - pizza, donuts etc. The funny thing is - I'm not a big donut eater but it was just the reality that I might not eat it again that triggered my want for it. Needless to say, I nearly made myself sick, eating all the food I wanted - whenever I wanted - that when I was given the date, I had to start the liquid diet in 3 days!! I felt ready though - I was actually SICK of all the careless eating I was doing and felt bad emotionally. Well, best of luck to you all!! maureen
  7. Hi Girlinnyc! I am also from NYC and am getting my lapband with Dr.Ren. I have my surgery this Sunday (YIKES!!). All I can say so far, is that EVERYONE that I have met has been super great! Barrie - the nutritionist is nice and the nurse in the office is AWESOME!! I asked her the most questions and she was very open and nice. I can let you know more after Sunday - I'm sure I'll have alot to say!!! I have to admit that the liquid diet is difficult for me. It is so limiting that I haven't been going out very much. cheers! maureen
  8. This is my FIRST post! I too am from NYC and am getting banded this sunday (11.6). I am having the procedure done with Dr.Ren at NYU Medical. I never considered the RNY - for the same reasons - way too extreme! I have to admit that now that the time is coming closer I am totally freaking out. It's so NOT the right time to question the decision I've made - I have been on the liquid diet for 9 days and don't feel like I'm 100% myself. Good luck with everything - do you have a date or have you just started the journey? Best of luck... maureen
