I was on Effexor XR and I gained a hell of a lot of weight. It totally stunk. I am off now and the anxiety thing os going OK, but I am still gaining weight:) I agree that they do help you to gain the problem is that sometimes you really NEED to take them. AHHHH- I am glad I am in good company:)

I guess it would depend on your psycologist. I have anxiety and I spoke to my psy about this and she seemed willing to help. She feels that this surgery may help with it. She seperated the weight loss from the anxiety being that she was looking at the benifits for WLS to my physical health and then she was interestd in the mental health. She did clear me for the surgery. I would be honest with the psy being that you do not want to do anything that will harm your mental being because of the surgery. I am sure you wont have a problem...JUST BE HONEST. And good luck:)

Hi Guys...I am so excited today I met with my surgeon and got my psycologist and nutritionist out of the way. YEAH!!!!!! My surgeon seems to think that I am going to have my surgery in JAN. I am so happy I am getting this under way. Wish me luck!!!!!

I was wondering is anyone here has experienced hair loss after lap-band surgery? I know it is a side effect of the Rny but I didn't know if it was for lap band?

Thanks for your reply LapBandit. I really dont have that much to loose in the grand scheme of things. I am 230 now and I want to be maybe 140. So RNY seemed so permanent. I am so happy with my decission now and I am totally at pease with it:)

My sister had RNY in Aug. and she has lost 65 lbs but she is having a lot of problems due to the rerouting thing. She can't eat anything without getting sick. So I am NOT doing that. I am using Dr. Geiss at North Shore Syosett on LI. I just want the date to come already and I don't even have a date yet:). Well I am really glad to meet you guys, and I am sure I will be hearing your success stories soon enough:)

I know how you feel. I was always the 'small' one in the family and now I am FAT and I still am the small one so noone in my fam. thought I should have surgery. Well, I am still doing it, for me. Now that I have been going through the process, they have been coming around. You can do it...and if you have to, do it alone. This is for you and your health. You have good support here:)

I am new to this forum and I was looking through. I just saw the before and after pictures and you guys are inspiring. I feel so much better now. I went to see a surgeon for Rny and one for Lapband to learn about both. The RNY surgeon said that lapband is a failure in the USA and that I would be pointless for me. I was so upset at him for putting it down so much. I know a degree of that is because he wanted me to have RNY. BUT I chose Lapband and seeing all of you guys successfully doing it, makes me feel so good. I know it came with a lot of hard work but I am happy for all of you and can't wait to be on the other side:)

Hi everyone. I am new here and I have decided to have lap-band surgery. Though I have had some try to convince me to have RNY by-pass, I know that is not the right choice for me. I have total support from my husband and my family so I am SOOOO excited. I really can't wait to start this whole journey. I can't wait to hear all of your advice and to pick your brains:)
