ideas ofr mushie stage
My favorite was when I made a pot roast for the family, I threw some into the blender for me w/ a little bit of gravy until it was the consistency of tuna or chicken salad. Ate w/ some mashed carrots and potatoes, so good! Another good one for your sweet tooth is to mix a package of sugar free orange Gelatin w/ a container of low fat cottage cheese and a container of low fat whip cream, mix well and let set for a few hours in the fridge. So good, low carb, low fat and packed with Protein from the cottage cheese! Love this recipe! I've heard ricotta mixed w/ Peanut Butter tasted like cheesecake, but never tried it myself.

How much protein powder did you waste?
Our doc office doesn't sell protein, where did you purchase your Nectar samples from? I'm always looking for good protein! I can't stand the Whey powder or Eas Low Carb, I literally gag when trying to get those down... if Nectar is better I would be a happy camper! :scared2:

Chinese Egg Drop Soup?
Throw it in a Magic Bullet or blender to puree the egg whites so you don't loose too much protein from straining. I lived off the stuff for a week, so good! Be careful though, the first time trying it after clear liquids it gave me quite an upset stomach so sip just a little at a time.

About Carbs
Betsy- I'm curious to know, what are some examples of your typical meals for a day?? I'm trying to stick to low(er) carbs as well but often find myself eating higher calorie foods like pepperoni and cheese slices for lunch. I'm having a hard time doing low carb while also staying low calories. I'm always looking for low calorie yet low carb food suggestions, any advice?? Thanks

Am I insane?!
I am in Lap band hell and hating it!! Ugh, I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op but my doctor has me on mushies and soft foods already. I can eat up to 2 cups each meal now and still not be satisfied. It really stinks, I was about in tears when I weighed in and found I gained this week. I totally understand where you are coming from, I wish I could say it gets better, but I'm not there yet myself... can't wait for that fill!!

Chicagoland Lap Band Doc & Plastic Surgeon neeeded!!
I used Dr. Vafa Shayani for banding and LOVED him! He has such a great bed side manner and always replies to emails and calls promptly. I would recommend him to anyone! Although I used him in the Rockford office, he has offices all over Chicago land. Check him out and I hope he's close for you and can help w/ fills. I don't have much help as far as a plastic surgeon but if you find one let me know for future use

Post-op: How long until you progressed to solid food?
Wow, reading all the other posts and they are so different from my Doc's orders! Post surgery- 4 days clear liquids, 3 days full liquids then my 1 week check up. @ 1 week post op I'm already on most mushies and @ 2 weeks post op he wants me on soft foods/meats/proteins, by weeks 3/4 I should be on all solids. I'm trying not to rush it, I still drink a lot of soups because I'm so terribly afraid of a slippage, but he's the doc and the pro, if he told me to go ahead... might as well

A few Questions
My doctor told me no coffee for a week post op, because like others said, it's a diuretic and can dehydrate you. Now, I'm only 3 days post op and couldn't imagine leaving the house yet. My tummy is so swollen I cant wear anything besides sweats and I walk slowly with a hunch from the incisions/stitches pulling. Each body is different, but take it easy. As far as pain day 2 was the worst for me thus far! I did go home that same day - surgery was at 11am and out of hospital at 4pm. Frankly, I would've liked staying a few more hours to sleep off some of the anesthesia, but the nurses were so pushy at getting me out of there quick! Plus, I figured I'd get a better nights sleep at home w/o a nurse coming in every hour to check my stats. Good luck!

Banded yesterday - June 14th - recovery ?s
I'm day 3 post op and I was curious on everyone elses experience, I'm so swollen! I'm shocked at how swollen my tummy is, I feel like a pregnant women. Did you experience this and when did you start to see some relief? I'm afraid to even attempt to wear anything besides sweats!

Banded yesterday....Oh the gas pains :(
I was banded the 21st! I'm in the same boat. Day 3 for me is better, but night 2 was horrible! Gas seems to be passing more today and it's easier to walk around. Everything I've read says day 2 is the worst. I did take some Beano- meltaways that melt it your mouth, they seem to work temporarily. The easiest fix for me though is walking as much as I can tolerate and finding things to do to take my mind off it.
