  1. i had my band may of 2010 and its coming up on 1 yr and i have only lost 30-35 lbs (depending which scale i go by)..i have had only 2 fills. i am going to the doctors in april for another fill, i hope ! everyone keeps telling me its a slow process so i know how you feel when you dont lose enough. i am at a stand still with my weight . was hoping i would be down at least 50 lbs by now. probrably should be exercising more. my job i do alot of standing and walking so i can say i exercise that way. so has anyone been down the same road as me ???
  2. i had to go to my doctors every month for 6 months...(i went over a year). everytime i went, i asked for a copy of my notes each time..my surgeon's office summited the actual notes, that stated wt, blood press., what my diet was, and what kind of exercise i was doing. my insur., want no less then that. i was appoved last week, tentative date may 18. good luck
  3. i have blue cross/blue shield of nj-direct access...your lucky if you only had to do a 3 month documention diet..i had to do a 6 month plus, i had to send in all the doctors notes for the past year..insur didnt want to see a letter, the actual doc's notes is what they wanted..good luck
  4. wow, thats great you dont have no pre-op diet....why do you think your surgeon does it that way? i go to my surgeon may 5 to sign papers and set up blood work, my tentative date is may 18....good luck to you
  5. from south jersey and and tentative date is may 18, my surgeon is dr. balsama...would like to keep in contact with anyone from this area or has the same surgeon...(dr. neff is another surgeon from this area) or if you already had the band done...thank you:tt1:

  7. i heard you cant have coffee after the surgery...any truth to this ??
  8. i dont understand why they want you to lose weight before the surgery..isnt that the purpose of getting the surgery? someone told me its because of the liver??? i have gained about 9lbs since i was at the surgeons office, (over year ago), i do have appt may 5 and surgery is tentative may 18. so:thumbup: i guess i will be told about this pre-op diet...its not a liquid diet is it? protein.? any add'l information would be great...thank you
  9. well after 2 yrs of trying to get approved, i was, tentative date for me is may 18...cant wait...a little nervous. what i am reading is, it seems like people have to go on a liquid diet before surgery. i wasnt told this yet. i do have appt to see surgeon may 5 and to sign papers, maybe i will be told then?? for the woman/men who had no problem getting improved, great..for me..it was a nightmare..was denied jan of 09...appealled and denied again march 6 2009, had to wait till march 6 2010 to open new claim. then i was denied cuz of phych evalu. was 1 yr 2 mon old. it had to be within a year. well got that taken cared of , appealed it again..and was approved. so i wish all may bandsters good luck and will post my post op...
  10. my surgery for the lapband is may 18 2010. i was wondering how much or if any you need help from you spouse. my husband wants to take off the whole week. dont get me wrong, i appreciate that he wants to be with me but i was just wondering how much a lapband patient needs help at home. another question, (meeting w/surgeon may 5) even tho i will ask him at that appt. but do you stay overnight or is this done as outpatient? thank you donna:thumbup:
  11. i wouldnt go to any specialty doctors unless you know you will be having surgery within that year..most insurance companies want all records to be within a year..i submitted a claim and was denied because my pychol. report was 1 yr and 2 months old..appealed with new report updated and was approved..good luck !!
