  1. Thanks for sharing your story. I was banded in 2008 and I have a slip and my band needs to be taken out. I feel better about the situation. I'm bummed because I am at my goal weight and love my body. I don't want to get fat again. But my health is more important and this slip could cause more sever health issues than being chunky.
  2. Omg I thought I was the only one going through this. It seems like when I have fills in my stomach wants to reject the band. I get pain and over time my band gets tighter and tight to where I can't even tolerate liquids. Then I go and get unfill and then the weight comes back because I have no restriction. It's open, close, open, close for the past years. I now have a slip and a doctor appointment on jan 23 to discuss my options. The lap band has not really worked for me. The only time I'm slim is when the band is so tight I can't eat for weeks. Then I'm just starving. I want it out.
  3. Thanks guys for your input. I was hoping that he would take out just the .5 and yes I do have a 10 cc band. The low profile one. When I lost all that weight you could see my port sticking out and it was gross!! I didn't think I could get too skinny but you can. Funny thing is that 125 was my original goal weight until got down to it and I saw how gross I looked. I am comfortable where I am at now which I am at 141 but wouldn't about 5 lbs less. I just don't want to get any bigger. Thanks everyone for your responses they made me feel a lot better. I was actually starting to get bummed. But now I am not!
  4. Okay here's my background info. I had surgery in nov 2008 and I had my first fill in dec 2008 to 7cc. I did okay with it until about july 2009. I have really bad sinus infections so I have a lot of flem all the time.(sorry to gorss anyone out) It started out as occasionally I would throw up solid food. Then I started throwing up thicker liquids like protein shakes or yogurt. Then I was throwing up no matter what and even water would gurgle down. I went down to 126 lbs and I felt horrible. I looked cute for a high school girl but I am grown woman with a child and that was too skinny. My goal is actually 135-145 lbs. I went to see my doctor in Sept 2009. They looked at my stomach under the x-ray and saw that my pouch was inflamed or swollen. He had never come across that situation but he opened me up 2cc which dropped me down to 5 cc filled. I immediately felt the difference ans such relief. Well over the holidays and what not I gained 30 lbs. Got up to 156 lbs and climbing. I was getting frustrated. I wen tback in Feb 2010 to get a fill. My doc wanted to prevent the issue that had happned from occuring again. He only filled me up 1.5 cc this time in hopes that the same thing would not happne again. Well it is and I having extra symptons I did not have before. I am getting some type of acid reflux to where I am woken up in the night with the reflux inmy throat. I have an appt on wed April 21 but I am scared he will open me up to a 5 again and then my weight will go crazy again. Anyone been through this before or any advice?

New to group BMI 30 surgery in May

I had a BMI of 31 and I paid out of pocket for mine. My insurance would not cover it. I feel ya! Obesity runs on both sides of my family and I was headed that way. I took a stand and saved me many more years of heartache. Don't feel bad. You did the right thing for your health and you future!!
  6. Hi Kel, if you feel threatened by your doc if you have concerns then a get a new doc. you have nothing to worry about. I believe you need a fill. So go see your doc or get a new one that is going to better cater to your needs. living with a band is not easy and you are not alone. So find a doc you can voice all your concerns with. I myself am going to switch doc soon.
  7. dont' get to scared. I am prone to sinus infections and this has happened to me before and it is happening again. You might no even have a slippage. I had and inflamation. my little pouch got swollen(imflamed). all the doc did was open it a lil and it all went away. but you will gain some weight back. i did and i went back to fill it again and now i am having the same porblem again. good luck and i am seeing my doc soon too. just don't stress it may not be as bad as you think.
  8. I am having the same problem again and i had it before. I had to have my band opened and then i started gaining weight. so i went back to have my band tightened back. Now its happening all over again. I am trying to get an appt with my doc to get a fill taken out. this sucks!
