Banded in April. Never very restricted but getting fills every month of .5cc . Should of had 6 cc's in band. very little restriction . One time i had a fill i think my doc may have missed the port , it was very painful where usually it is pain free. Went in last month and told docs and they removed liquid out of band and found it only had 4cc's in it. They refilled with 6 cc's . I had a little restriction at first and about 2 weeks later had none. Anyone heard of this? Can the port be replaced? I would do it all over again if i had to . I havent lost weight in several months but have held steady.

I've never had big restriction , kinda spooky . I have been hung up a few times I can't eat triscuits anymore.LOL . A woman i know has a band , her doc fills it up to full capacity then lets enough out so water will pass. She loses 3-4 lbs every week. I've watched her eat . She will pick at a small dinner salad and thats it. Na i like food too much.

Hi 54shirley, Well i went in today . They Found leak!!!!! They put darker blue color in band this time . When they removed port and pulled out some tubing the doc saw a Blue dot going through the tubing , He clamped past this and put some good pressure on port and it squirted out in a stream. So he replaced port and some tubing. I'm at 4cc's now. Didn;t need floroscopy. I;m glad they found the smoking gun .

Follow up . Had a couple more fills. Am up to 10.6cc's . Have little restriction . Got weight to 260 through excersise. well went to docs the other day , he drew out the fluid in band and it only had 5cc's in it. He looked a little pale. He now wishes to fill it with x-ray contrast in surgery and then find the leak . He seems to think it's the connector. I think that the hose was crushed by a hemostat and has a small leak but that is only my idea. Will have to go back in a 3rd time ugh. I wish they would have replaced the whole thing the first time. I still feel it was the best thing for me I was only gaining and really needed to reset my eating habits.

To follow up . Went to docs 3 days ago and he put me to 8.5 . That's 1.5 cc fill! Well I have restriction now . I got hung up bad . several times during small meal. what do you know it works. Doc said there may be a issue where the band may become compliant or the body learns to work food by it. Im reenergized with this I weighed 272 I hope to lose 10 this month . I'll Keep all of you posted.

A follow up ... I went last week to have my fill . Doc pulled out 6 cc's then put 7 back in . It worked perfectly. I have no idea why it didn't do this before. At 7 cc's i have a very slight restriction so I struggle with weight but haven't gained. Doc said he will put me to 8 next month . Man I need it.

Went to Dr's today . He said they did not replace port , I thought they did. He said they checked out the system and disconnected and removed the port . It had dye in it and there was no traces of dye around port or band. Had a scan today and i have good restriction but i can still eat anything . Doc said the restriction should be enough for most people but I am lucky to have a system that can force it by. I can take a big bite of a bagel and swallow it whole and not get hung up. So another fill in 2 weeks . So Not the band's fault . Also they have no idea why they could only pull back less fluid than what was in the band . I am thinking the balloon folds on itself when drawn back and prevents full empting.

I don't know the brand exactly but it is a lap band not a realize band. Bumps in the road happen i guess it's how you handle them that counts .

Ok had port replaced today . Doc said he checked out band and it's ok. Not bad operation , i'm in a little bit of pain where the port is but not terrible. They filled me to 6 cc's and i have a 10 day liquid diet . Had some soup for lunch . Ready to get back on the program. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement.

To follow up , I went back in dec and should of had 6 cc's in band . Doc found only 3cc's in band so have a leak. I see that some docs put contrast dye in band to find leak but he is pretty sure it's the port and said manufacturer does not approve of this method . The band manufacturer makes a repair kit that includes a replacement port and hose connector. I gained about 5 lbs over holidays and need to get back on track. Have surgery on Jan 10 and no regrets. Ill keep up my postings.

Banded april 2010 . lost 35 lbs . Have a 14cc band had some restriction at 5.5cc doc went to 6.5cc and i figured i would be real tight but it feels the same or a little less . Does this sound crazy . Im thinking about calling my doc and seeing what he thinks . I usually get a .5cc fill and can tell i have more restriction. Any insight. Thanks

My port area was the last to heal . I have hit it and yeah it can hurt. Mine is right under the surface and real easy to find and bump into. 2 weeks post op i still had some discomfort and swelling . Took me 4 weeks to be myself again. Going in for 2nd fill today , have some restriction but need more and need to remember to drink my water. Keep moving forward.

Uscgal 11 days sounds about right for after surgery to me . Painkillers and other meds do it to you too. Before band i went everyday post band about every 4 days. Less in less out. Hey in bootcamp i went 6 weeks without a bm . Didn't eat enough and worked out so hard body burned up everything.

I was a bad popcorn grazer , but popcorn does not agree with my band . I can only eat a small bowl if i chew it real good. I was so hungry on my pre-op liquid only diet that i was planning on going to home town buffet and eating all day , I said to myself "If I'm going to be this hungry forget it , I'll get a sleep apnea machine and some bigger pants and not live a long life". After the band i'm not so hungry anymore unless i have lunch after 1 . Instead of buffet ,I went to the store and bought some fish and veges. You know it's really up to you.

My kids left some fries on the plate and i started eating them without thinking . Ate 4 of them and got that feeling . Got up and threw them out. Usetobee :bored: I'd eat em all. Thats what it does for me.

I was so hungry that i posted a rant about the demon inside of me and was kicked off this site. Ha Ha . Seriously it gets better I could have broth and found some asian soups that were tasty. I started understanding how much i was eating. I'm not starving anymore and eat about one third what i did before. But if i don't eat lunch before 1 i'm hungry. You will live through it.

Im in there with you . getting filled on the 4th . 1st timer. I've been careful eating , no red meat , about 1200 cal a day. haven't lost much weight post op .

The first day was horror . Gets easier . OMG you could eat:scared2: After 10 days i had some soup and was sick . well lost 16 on diet . It showed me i was eating too much when i thought i was eating ok.

Hi Allie . I go in on the 4th for my first fill . Hows your diet going ? I'm happy to be able to start eating again .

It's getting you ready for your post op diet too. I had 2 silver dollar size pieces of chicken and was full . So get ready.

Hey guys , I'm 4 days post op . Have some swelling where my port is and larger insertion port hurts. Also my left hand hurts where iv went in. Called doc and he said all normal. Still on liquids and a bowl of liquid fills me up . Not hungry anymore thats good. Just need to keep healing. Have docs appt monday ,hopefully i can eat more solid stuff . Man I could use a sandwich.

Allie and Mommy2ps , I had mine installed today .I had a 40 bmi and insurance paid :thumbup:. I was concerned also . I had 2 knee surgerys while in military and none since . The hospital i went to was so nice and helpful. I went in at 7 am today and was out at 1 . My incision on my left side is painful but the meds make it ok . Didn't have the shoulder pain or any gas. Bottom line . worrying about it was the worst . the surgery was great . I feel empowered . and so will you.

Well I did it. Had my surgery today . went in at 7 am came home at 1 . I slept through most of it. The incision on my left side is painful but ok . Didn't have any shoulder pain. Yhe patch behind my ear made me a little dizzy. Shae how did yours go? I have no regrets :thumbup:
