  1. I agree 100%! It's cold in the winter without much hair. lol Mine was always thin anyway, so I have to be careful. I don't look good in taboggans (is that spelled right?) lol Once you get the hang if it, it's not really hard. Just good food choices, that's all. Good luck and I hope I helped. lisa
  2. Anniemay, belive me, I am in NO WAY contradicting your dr. But hair is Protein based. My docs gave us a range of 40 to 60 grams per day. And like I said before, if my protein intake falls below the 40 gram mark, I start losing mine. lol I start feeling slugish and tired all the time also. You do what your doctor tells you by all means. lisa
  3. Hello anniemay. hair loss is sometimes due to lack of sufficent Protein in your diet. Are you getting enough protein? I can tell when I don't get enough, my hair starts coming out in hand fulls. I also take Biotin. That seems to help some. There is some discussion as to whether this works or not, but I believe it does to some extent. Talk to your doctor and ask how many protein grams per day he recommends, try to get that much in and see what happens. You have to be very selective as to what you eat in order to get that many grams in, but it can be done. You can do it, just hang in there! Hope this helps you. lisa
  4. Hey Sharon..... Please keep in mind that these are from our doctor. Dr. B probably has rules of his own. 1. Eat only 3 small meals a day. (Breakfast within 1 hour of getting up and your last meal 3 hours before you go to bed) 2. Eat slow and chew thoroughly (15-20 times per bite) 3. Stop eating as soon as you feel full (do not challenge the band, see how little y ou can eat and be satisfied.) 4. Do NOT drink while eating. (30 minutes before and 1 hour after) No carbonated drinks. Avoid gulping, sip. 5. Do not eat between meals. 6. Make good choices. (eat only good quality food. solid food is more important than liquid food. The band will have no effect if you only consume liquids as it will pass right through.) 7. Drink at least 6 - 8 8 ounce glasses of Water per day. 8. Drink low calorie or zero calorie liquids. (crystal lite) in addition to the above. 9. Exercise daily. You eat daily so you need to exercise daily. 10. Avoid doughy or sticky foods like white bread, pop corn, coconut, dried fruits as they can obstruct the stoma. Please understand...... These are our doctors rules. Please follow YOUR doctor's rules above all else. These are really common sense rules for bandsters, but it helps newbies and those who have gotten off track. Hope this helps. lisa
  5. Hey Glo, I don't know if anyone other than the folks that see our doctors know what the "BOX" is. For all of yall that don't know..... our doctors have a list of 10 rules that we are to follow for sucess. If yall want them, I will be glad to share. lol They are not hard rules to follow, just sensible rules that if you follow them......work. lisa
  6. Good for you. If possible, get a copy of everything you submit. Sometimes the insurance companies "mis-place" reports and things that are critical for approval. If you have a copy and when it was faxed or sent in, then you have proof that it was sent. Send it again and document it on the copy. Keep a copy of everything that is done. Even the reciepts from doctor visits. I had trouble getting approved the first time and all that stuff helped when it came time for appeal. I hope you won't need it, but it's some thing that will help you be "in charge". lol Good luck and keep us posted, k?
  7. Hey Just A Girl. Hang in there. I hope your approval comes through soon. But don't get discouraged in the meantime. Sometimes the insurance companies require several things to get approval. Have you talked to your PCP? Call your insurance company and have them fax you the requirements for approval. (or e-mail them to you) That way you will know what you need to do to be assured of approval. I don't have BCBS, but my insurance company required me to have several things to prove that my surgery was "medically necessary". Do your research and get informed about co-morbidities and have them documented by your PCP in a letter of medical necessity to send in to your insurance. But the first thing you really need to do is get that list from BCBS. If you are not approved the first time, most insurance companies give you a limited number of times you can resubmit or have the claim reviewed. You have be careful when submitting for approval. I'm sorry if I got you down, but some insurance companies are real sticklers and make you jump through hoops to get approval. But, I promise it's worth it in the end. You will be healthier and more able to take care of those little ones. I use Dr. Heiker in Texarkana , so I can't help you with the choice of doctors you have picked, but if you need any help with other things, ask.... if I can help you, I will do my best. I mostly post on the Texarkana Bansters thread and there is a LOT of information in the first pages of that thread, and you will be able to get an idea of how things work. Again, I'm sorry if I discouraged you, I just wanted to help.
  8. Hang in there ParisAngel. We were all in your situation before we got banded. Your time will come. Glo, I pay a co-pay when I see Dr. H. But that's all. I think I had three fills before I started paying my co pay. I don't really remember, so don't quote me on that one. Are you coming to the meeting Monday night? I'm gonna try. RenewedHope, congratulations on the little one. I hope you adjust soon. Every mom has the problem of adjusting to night stuff. It's gets better. Congrats on the weight loss also. You are doing great. Keep up the good work! Yall have a good weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving. Be good to your band and it will be good to you.
  9. Hi everyone. I'm from just north of Mt. Pleasant. Glad to see so many people around that area starting to post. Dr. Heiker in Texarkana placed my band. He and Dr. Keilin are awesome! I have also heard good things about Dr. Querry. By the way, Glo.... you are doing great! Hang in there girl!!! Yall have a great day!
  10. They even talk funny in Dallas to me. lol lisa
  11. I tried, but I think it's gone. But, the way I figger it, you can post if you wanna. lol We may talk funny to ya. lol lisa
  12. I thought I was posting on the Texas board, sorry. The other thread that has 217 posts died. There were only two of us posting and we decided to stop posting on it and e-mail each other instead. I just thought I would see if there were others lurking about in the Mt. Pleasant Texas area that might like to start posting. Again, sorry if I messed you up. lisa
  13. Are there any more Mt. Pleasant bandsters lurking on this site? I would like to start another thread for those of us in the Mt. Pleasant area. I know there are more than two or three in the area, so...... come on and let's give each other support and have some fun getting to know one another. Who knows, you might make a friend..... I'm six months out and a little discouraged myself right now, but I can give support. How bout you? lisa
  14. I hate humidity. Makes my hair frizz! lisa
  15. Frisky is NOT the word I would have used. lol But, I guess it's as good as any. Maybe....."Oh no, she's back to harass us". Is there one word for that? Pestering, that's the word I was looking for. How's it going for you? I feel like I have no restriction. Ain't that fun? One week from my doctor visit were I said I would try to go without one. lol That figures. I had a great need of some Lasix this morning. My rings are just as tight as when I started this crazy life. lol I had some left overs from before and took one. So, they won't be tight long. lol I know, that cheating, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right? lisa
  16. I'M BBAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKK!!!!! Just thought you might like to know. lol lisa
  17. Mornin SUUUUSSAAAANNNN!!!!!
  18. I'm going to try to go. I'm afraid to say for sure, everytime I say for sure, something happens. Take the visitors elevator to the ground floor and it's the second or third door on the left. (not far from the elevator)
  19. lol I kinda doubt he has banded you from the site. I don't know if that's possible. lol I was just on it. I don't know where you read that, but that's not very encouraging for someone that wants to lose 3 pounds a week. lol If I could just lose 2 pounds a week, that would make me happy. Well, I hope this tweak will do something. Oh and by the way, if you didn't know it IT'S FRIDAY!!! later,
  20. I doubt that..... lol. Speaking of banded. I think I'm gonna ask Dr. H about the band he forgot to put on my brain. lol Na, to be honest, I think I just need to get back to th basics of all this. I think I have too much support group meeting information swimming around in my head. And I'm trying too hard to be the perfect bandster. I think I just need to eat when I'm hungry and not worry bout getting all that "stuff" done. What a surprise!!!! lol I just figgered it out. lol
  21. Yep, it's the 18th. I got on it ok. How are you this morning?
  22. Good morning. I have been playing with my signature. Just checking it out. Have a good day!
  23. Yeah, but our little friend needs to take a little more active involvement with their end of the agreement. I have things that I want to do and my friend has continued be a silent partner. I have to admit, I can here it whispering sometimes. Depends on what day it is. So, I'm thinking I just need a little fill this time. I will have to wait a few more days to get it so, I guess I'll make it. talk to you later, lisa
  24. Hi, Susan.....How are you? I'm still here. Just not losing any weight :angry. I sincerely hope that I get to my sweet spot soon. I guess I will eventually. I am just discouraged right now. I had several goals set for myself and I haven't even met one yet. Like I wanted to loose 50 before Easter. That wasn't too much. I had 4 months to do it and had already lost 15 or so before surgery. I wanted to be at least 65 pounds lighter by June 1. Still haven't even gotten close to the 50 much less the 65. I didn't think those were unrealistic, but I guess I was wrong. Yes, I am beating myself up. So, sorry for whinning. lisa
  25. I don't think you missed much. lisa
