I have been overweight my entire life - I don't remember being a thin kid :)!! I am 57, teach first grade, have a 32 year old son, and am married to a very supportive, wonderful husband of 35 years. My surgery is scheduled for 4/2/10 - next Tuesday - and I am ready to be a thinner, healthier me!! As I told the doctor, I want to live to spend and enjoy my retirement. I have health problems now that will only be compounded with diabetes and other health issues. I am excited but am getting even more nervous as the time ticks closer to surgery. I wanted to find a support group for now and later.
